Beauty | Spring and Summer Beauty Wish List

Spring and Summer Beauty Wish List

My Spring and Summer beauty wish list.....

I've totally given into the hype on this one after reading lots of reviews and watching endless You Tube videos. This palette looks gorgeous and perfect for Spring and Summer, particularly because I have blue eyes and these peach shades will really make them 'pop'.

I'm also a big fan of Too Faced products anyway, their Better Than Sex mascara is a favourite of mine and I also have a couple of their other eyeshadow palettes, sadly not the chocolate palette yet but that is also one I would love to add to my collection.

Keep your fingers crossed this comes back into stock soon because I'm itching to try it!

Another Too Faced product that I've been wanting to try for a while now are the Melted Metal Lipsticks. I love the range of colours that are available, especially Macaron and love all the cute names they give their products. Surprisingly, I haven't ever tried any lip products by this brand before so i'm interested to see what they are like... they look very pigmented and glossy!

It's getting to that time of year where the weather is improving and I'm in need of a little help to get that perfect golden glow so a self tan is definitely a must for my wish list. In the past I have used a lot of products by St Tropez but I fancy trying something a little different and Fake Bake is brand I've tried in salons for spray tans but never used at home before.

I'm looking for a product which gives a natural tan, provides easy application, is quick drying and streak free. From reading reviews online it looks like Fake Bake would be perfect so I definitely want to give it a try!

Every time I go into Superdrug I spot these bath and shower gels and am amazed by how unique and delicious the fragrances sound. Again, this isn't a brand I have tried before but I definitely plan to as they sound wonderful. The packaging is cute and the colours of these products really jump out at you.

I've tried a few different primers over the years but i'm yet to find one I like as much as Benefit Porefessional which I turn to over and over again. I'm really keen to find an alternative and I've found a lot of people have been positive about the Laura Mercier Primer so I would love to try it. I'm a big fan of their skin care products but I've never actually tried any of their makeup before so this will be a first for me.

I love using different blushes in my makeup routine and a favourite brand of mine is Bourjois. They have a really lovely range of colours, the formula's apply beautifully to the skin and they are a must have for any makeup bag.

Recently I've been wearing a lot of coral inspired makeup so I'd love to try this particular shade. I think it will add a lovely pop of colour to the cheeks for a simple, fresh look during Spring and Summer.

My Favourite High Street Shops

Favourite shops

Last week I featured a blog post about my favourite online beauty websites so it feels right to also include a post about my favourite places to shop on the High Street.  I tend to buy a lot more by shopping in store rather online so this post will feature a selection of my favourite beauty, fashion and home picks!

New Look // Link

I remember shopping at New Look a lot in my early teens but for some reason stopped for a good number of years after that.  I started shopping there in the past few years and I'm absolutely loving it.  I think New Look are really on top of their game and I find I buy products there for day, night and work.  Their prices are also very reasonable which makes them appeal even more.

Jane Norman // Link

This has been a shop I have loved since I was a teen because I find their clothes a little different to what other stores on the high street have to offer.  Over the years if I'm honest, I've noticed the price has crept up but the quality crept down so I'm finding I'm shopping less in there but I love their style and if I'm ever struggling for an outfit whether it be for day or night I know I will get it here!

Debenhams // Link

Debenhams is a great department store that sells a multitude of products ranging from beauty to fashion and home. I particularly love looking around the beauty section and always get my eyebrows threaded here. The homeware is also a favourite!

Selfridges // Link

The Selfridges beauty haul is amazing whether you or looking to buy something in particular or just browsing.  It would be amazing to be able to wonder around there without all the crowds and really take in the beauty of the store.  The other departments are also just as great so it is very easy to spend many hours in here!

Harrods // Link

Harrods holds special memories for me because I have been going there with my parents my entire life.  I love how exclusive and special it feels and it's been interesting to see how it has changed over the years.  It offers a huge amount of products and even though I've been going there forever the store is so huge I still get lost almost every time (my sense of direction is really bad).

Boots // Link

Being a beauty blogger this one is a pretty obvious pick! I like the layout of the product displays in Boots and the staff are always helpful.  I love that there is always one near by and that they have such a large product range that is often on special offers too.

Superdrug // Link

Superdrug is another obvious pick but I only tend to go in there to buy products that aren't available in Boots because I prefer it.  I love that they stock Essie, Sleek and MUA in particular. There is often a bargain to be had in Superdrug which makes it very tempting to buy products from here!

Primark // Link

I'm always amazed at how low the prices are at Primark and am suprised I didn't start shopping in their sooner.  This is definitely the place to go if you want to pick up a bargain and the latest trends!

Pandora // Link

Pandora sells beautiful jewellery and I often find myself in there admiring it.  As it is on the pricey side I don't regularly buy items from there but I am always adding more to my wish list and enjoying the new collections that come out.  The Valentines one this year looks beautiful! Pandora display their products perfectly and the shops is light and airy.  I love it.

Dorothy Perkins // Link

Although Dorothy Perkins is a little more expensive than some other clothing stores on the high street I often buy things for work in there.  The quality is great as well as the fit and I love that I can easily achieve a smart casual look with very little effort.

Laura Ashley // Link

Laura Ashley is a great store for homeware and I love taking a peak at all the lovely things they have in there.  It's one of those stores where I could easily spend a lot of money because they are all so pretty so it's lucky they often have big sales!

House of Fraser  // Link

There seems to be a theme here with the department stores but I really love them because they offer so much. House of Fraser is probably the one I shop in least often but there isn't a particular reason for that.  They do however, have amazing shoe sales where I have picked up some great bargains!

Marks and Spencer // Link

If you had said to me 10 years ago M&S would be appearing in this post I would never have believed it.  I remember going here with mum and dad as a child and finding it terribly boring but now I'm older I really appreciate the quality of their products and absolutely love their home department.

This post has become much bigger than I expected because as I wrote it I kept thinking of more and more stores to mention! This is by no means all of them but it gives you an insight into my little world of shopping.

What do you think of my picks?

:: Brrrrrr..... It's cold ::

:: Winter Boots ::

Brrrrrr isn't it cold out? I dont know about you but I really feel the cold so for me it is definitely time to start wearing those winter boots.  It looks like many others have also joined me because during my commute to work I'm seeing more and more people have switched from their pumps and heels to boots.

There are loads of great boots in the shops this year and I could easily spend a fortune buying numerous pairs. Before you buy any I would really reccommend you shop around because I noticed some really great high street brands are mirroring the designer brands so you don't have to necessarily  spend a lot to get the look you want.

On to the two pairs of boots I recently purchased...

The first pair my boyfriend actually bought me for my birthday a few weeks ago and I love them!

They are from Dune in Selfridges in London (I expect all the Dune stores will sell them, their website definitely does: Dune website ) and are priced at £99. These boots have gorgeous detail and two buckles on the outer side and a zip on the inner.

I can honestly say these boots are extremely comfortable. I've worn then quite a few times already and I've been able to easily wear them all day without getting any blisters or sore spots on my feet. The fit is also perfect.

Every time I've worn these boots people have commented on how lovely they are and I totally agree, I'm going to wear them a LOT.

The second pair of boots I purchased in the past few weeks are also from Dune in Selfridges, but this time are knee high.

These boots are priced at £180 and words can't describe how soft the leather is... It's like silk! I love the look of these boots as they are different from any I have had before. In the past I've always gone for tighter fitting ones around my legs but these are looser around the ankle area so they give that relaxed baggy look which Is very flattering.  I especially like wearing these boots with short dresses and skirts... I just love that look!

I don't find these boots as comfortable as my ankle boots and after a few hours the balls of my feet do feel a little sore but not so bad that I wouldn't want to wear them.

What boots have you purchased this winter?

:: Coconut and Almond Delight ::

:: Boots Coconut and Almond Intensive Hair Mask ::

I thought I would give the boots intensive hair mask a go as it is very cheaply priced, the packaging is nice and the smell, coconut and almond, is one of my favourites. I must admit I was skeptical at first as this product is so cheap but I was pleasantly surprised.

This product comes in a nice tub so application is easy. I was expecting a strong aroma of coconut and almond but it is relatively mild so don't be put off if your not a big fan of this aroma.  The smell also isn't lasting on the hair as by the time you add conditioner and any other products you use it is covered up.

The appearance of this mask is gorgeous.  It has a white, silky, pearly look to it which just shouts out for you to dip your hand in and try it on your hair.

I've used this hair mask 1-2 times a week for the past couple of months and I really like it. I only apply it from my ears down, so not my roots and use a generous helping after shampooing. It makes my hair very soft, sleek and shiny.

Priced at only £1.99 at Boots this product is an absolute bargain!
