Lifestyle | Homeware Wish List

Homeware Wish List

Since buying my first home with my boyfriend I love looking at nick nacks for the home and as there are quite a few I have my eye on at the moment I thought I'd share my latest wish list with you. We have a new build and as we had only lived together at Uni previous to this we didn't have anything to bring with us so needed to start from scratch. It was great having a blank canvas and we were really lucky to be able to get everything from the offset exactly how we wanted as it felt much more homely inside. Now we've been living there a while, though it's time to add some more comforts so I've been on the look out for new things especially for this.

Here is my current wish list.

Dylan Check Cotton Throw | £35.00 | Laura Ashley

I love snuggling up on the sofa with a big blanket and this one from Laura Ashley is gorgeous. I love the pretty lilac and purple running through it and was particularly drawn to it as this is a colour I'm thinking about adding into our white, grey and black lounge.

Besides using this as a blanket if I bought several they would work as really great throws over the sofas to add a different look to the room and make it feel more cosy. I've been tempted to do this for quite some time and this design is exactly what I'm looking for.

Lemington Polka Dot Cotton Throw | £38.50 | Laura Ashley

Another throw I'm loving at Laura Ashley is this pretty polka dot one which again sports lilac and purple shades. I'm not sure I would want to use this as throws over both of my sofas but definitely as and added layer of comfort for people to snuggle with as the nights start to get darker and we go into Autumn and Winter.

Large Wicker Heart | £20.00 | Marks and Spencer

I love heart decorations and as I live with my boyfriend they are the perfect way to decorate our house together.  We have off white walls so this dark wicker heart would add some dimension as well as contrast to make it a little more interesting. I also like to decorate the walls with different things other than photo's and paintings so they look more interesting so this would be the perfect addition.

Ivory Pleated Cushion | £24.00 | Debenhams

I'm slightly obsessed with cushions because I love the way the finish off a look in either a lounge or bedroom and also can be used to support your back etc (multi-purpose, whoop!). I think this ivory pleated cushion from Debenhams is really girly and fun plus it has the added sparkle which finishes it off perfectly. It would look really lovely on a white bedspread to add another texture and a little glam.

Apple and Elderflower Diffuser Sticks | £8.00 | Marks and Spencer

Last but not least is a fragrance diffuser as mine has recently run out. I love having this in the house because they last ages and they easily fill a room with a lingering scent. I haven't tried the apple and elderflower fragrance before but I like the sound of it because I imagine it being refreshing and slightly sweet.

Home Wish List // Feat. Laura Ashley / Marks and Spencer / Next

Home Wish List

Back in 2012 my boyfriend and I bought our first home together.  As it was a new build we had a completely blank canvas to work with and it was really fun to create different looks for each room.  At the time we wanted to keep things neutral so in the future when we fancied a change we could easily mix things up by introducing different accessories.  The time has come (quicker than I thought if I'm honest) where we fancy a bit of a change so I'm on the look out for some home accessories to change the look and feel of some of the rooms.  Here are my picks:

Laura Ashley Lemington Polka Dot Cotton Throw // £55 // Link

We recently transformed our spare room from a second bedroom that didn't get used much into a second lounge which now gets used every day.  In order to do this we swapped the double bed for a sofa bed so people can still stay if they need to but it has really opened up the space.  Originally we wanted to get a duck egg blue sofa bed but we found an offer on a more neutral one that was too good to refuse so we bought it with the intention to eventually buy a throw and some cushions to add a little colour.  I'm really into polka dots so love this one from Laura Ashley!

Laura Ashley Calissa Scented Hearts // £12.00 // Link

If I'm honest I have no idea where I will put these scented hearts but they are just so cute I had to include them on my wish list.  I love the pretty colours and the fact that they are scented too.  They would make a lovely feature in one of the bedrooms, maybe hanging on the wardrobe doors or even on some little hooks on the wall.

Next Luxe Faux Fur Cushion // £18.00 // Link

I'm a little obsessed with cushions which means that I'm one of those people that love the sofa and bed to be piled high with different colours and textures.  I haven't got any faux fur ones and this one looks so snuggly and cosy.  I'm thinking of maybe combining it with the throw and some others but I will have to see them together to get an idea of what they are really like.

Next Teal Fossil Embroided Cushion // £14 //  Link

Continuing with my love for cushions this one from Next is another I really like.   The colours are really pretty and I love the delicate design covering them. I think they would look really great on a sofa that has a pretty neutral background or maybe even on the bed. Next is amazing for homeware products, it's actually one of my favourite places to shop because the quality is good and the prices are very reasonable.

Marks and Spencer Small Wicker Heart // £19.50 // Link

I love anything with hearts and this wicker one from Marks and Spencer is adorable.  Our hallway is still looking s bit sparce as we haven't decorated the walls with photo's as we intended so a lovely addition will be this cute heart.  I love that it is 3D so will add a little dimension and will break up the photo's nicely.

My Favourite High Street Shops

Favourite shops

Last week I featured a blog post about my favourite online beauty websites so it feels right to also include a post about my favourite places to shop on the High Street.  I tend to buy a lot more by shopping in store rather online so this post will feature a selection of my favourite beauty, fashion and home picks!

New Look // Link

I remember shopping at New Look a lot in my early teens but for some reason stopped for a good number of years after that.  I started shopping there in the past few years and I'm absolutely loving it.  I think New Look are really on top of their game and I find I buy products there for day, night and work.  Their prices are also very reasonable which makes them appeal even more.

Jane Norman // Link

This has been a shop I have loved since I was a teen because I find their clothes a little different to what other stores on the high street have to offer.  Over the years if I'm honest, I've noticed the price has crept up but the quality crept down so I'm finding I'm shopping less in there but I love their style and if I'm ever struggling for an outfit whether it be for day or night I know I will get it here!

Debenhams // Link

Debenhams is a great department store that sells a multitude of products ranging from beauty to fashion and home. I particularly love looking around the beauty section and always get my eyebrows threaded here. The homeware is also a favourite!

Selfridges // Link

The Selfridges beauty haul is amazing whether you or looking to buy something in particular or just browsing.  It would be amazing to be able to wonder around there without all the crowds and really take in the beauty of the store.  The other departments are also just as great so it is very easy to spend many hours in here!

Harrods // Link

Harrods holds special memories for me because I have been going there with my parents my entire life.  I love how exclusive and special it feels and it's been interesting to see how it has changed over the years.  It offers a huge amount of products and even though I've been going there forever the store is so huge I still get lost almost every time (my sense of direction is really bad).

Boots // Link

Being a beauty blogger this one is a pretty obvious pick! I like the layout of the product displays in Boots and the staff are always helpful.  I love that there is always one near by and that they have such a large product range that is often on special offers too.

Superdrug // Link

Superdrug is another obvious pick but I only tend to go in there to buy products that aren't available in Boots because I prefer it.  I love that they stock Essie, Sleek and MUA in particular. There is often a bargain to be had in Superdrug which makes it very tempting to buy products from here!

Primark // Link

I'm always amazed at how low the prices are at Primark and am suprised I didn't start shopping in their sooner.  This is definitely the place to go if you want to pick up a bargain and the latest trends!

Pandora // Link

Pandora sells beautiful jewellery and I often find myself in there admiring it.  As it is on the pricey side I don't regularly buy items from there but I am always adding more to my wish list and enjoying the new collections that come out.  The Valentines one this year looks beautiful! Pandora display their products perfectly and the shops is light and airy.  I love it.

Dorothy Perkins // Link

Although Dorothy Perkins is a little more expensive than some other clothing stores on the high street I often buy things for work in there.  The quality is great as well as the fit and I love that I can easily achieve a smart casual look with very little effort.

Laura Ashley // Link

Laura Ashley is a great store for homeware and I love taking a peak at all the lovely things they have in there.  It's one of those stores where I could easily spend a lot of money because they are all so pretty so it's lucky they often have big sales!

House of Fraser  // Link

There seems to be a theme here with the department stores but I really love them because they offer so much. House of Fraser is probably the one I shop in least often but there isn't a particular reason for that.  They do however, have amazing shoe sales where I have picked up some great bargains!

Marks and Spencer // Link

If you had said to me 10 years ago M&S would be appearing in this post I would never have believed it.  I remember going here with mum and dad as a child and finding it terribly boring but now I'm older I really appreciate the quality of their products and absolutely love their home department.

This post has become much bigger than I expected because as I wrote it I kept thinking of more and more stores to mention! This is by no means all of them but it gives you an insight into my little world of shopping.
