Beauty | Autumn Hair and Beauty Trends

Autumn Beauty Trends

The weather in the UK is so changeable at the moment one minute we have beautiful blue skies and it's a warm sunny day and the next there is a chill in the air and raindrops falling on our heads. I'm not ready for Summer to be over just yet and I'm really hoping we get a nice September as it's our wedding in three and a half weeks but controversially I'm also looking forward to Autumn arriving.

As the temperature cools and the pretty golden leaves drop from the trees it offers the perfect opportunity to re-discover your Autumn fashion and beauty favourite's that have been neglected over the Summer months. To me, it feels like shopping without having spending any money as it's also exciting finding products you forgot you had.

This has got me thinking about what hair and beauty trends will grace the pages of our favourite magazines and fill the windows of our favourite shops hoping to tempt us in. Here's what I think will be this years favourite's:

Highlights

When people say highlights they often think of Summer and brightening their hair because it's warmer outside but why not mix things up and do this during Autumn instead? A flash of blonde or auburn running through a hair style looks gorgeous and is perfect for this time of year because it mimics the changing colour's of the leaves on the trees and would look stunning with berry tones. Check out some products used to colour hair here.

Nails

I mentioned berry tones earlier and it's a must during Autumn for nails as well as red. It's a classic and one of my favourite looks which I repeat every year without fail. Sometimes red can be a bit daunting to wear but something deep and rich like Sinful Nail Polish in Dangerous is a great shade. I also love to wear purple if I feel like mixing things up a little and this Attitude Polish in Temptation is really pretty. To have a more unique look but still fit in with this trend why not try adding your own nail art such as a hint of gold sparkle?

Textured Hair

I love adding texture to my hair whether it be beachy waves or curls and although I do this all year round for some reason I tend to do this more in Autumn/Winter. This year I think this look will be popular rather than the sleek straight look but I think high gloss and choppy layers will also be common. A simple high ponytail with plenty of volume or a down do will be the look this year. You can add texture to your hair by using a variety of styling tools to create different looks.

Makeup

Smokey eyes are something I think will be big in Autumn this year, in particular grey, purple and cranberry looks (not necessarily combined). These colours shout Autumn to me as the party season approaches I think the smokey eye will become more popular with a defined black flick or shimmery brown/gold liner. The berry lip is always around during this time of year and I love this look but I think purple lip shades will be more popular. MAC Recently released a gorgeous new deep purple shade in a Limited Edition collection and it's only a matter of time until others follow suit.

I look forward to seeing how many of my predictions are true as Autumn approaches!

What do you think will be the Autumn Hair and Beauty Trends?

Favourites | March Favourites

March Favourites feat Gosh, Lush, Charlotte Tilbury, Essie, Rimmel and Makeup Revolution

Yet another month has passed and that means one thing.. it's time to share my favourites with you! I really look forward to this every month because it gets me thinking about the products I have used a lot and have enjoyed plus of course I get to share them with my lovely readers.

This month has also seen some better weather so the products I have been using more Spring products than Winter. Here is what I have been loving during March:

Essie Eternal Optimist

First on my list of favourites is a nail polish I bought at the National Wedding Show at the end of February. Eternal Optimist was worn by Millie Mackintosh on her wedding day and is a beautiful blush pink which is described as spiced tea rose with a hint of cream. It's the perfect neutral shade for Spring and Summer and I've been wearing it a lot. The formula is also perfect and the wide brush allows application to be precise and quick.

Lush Oatifix Face Mask | £6.50

Lush Oatifix Face Mask

This month I discovered a new face mask from Lush called Oatifix which contains bananas which are very nutritious for the skin, oats, almond oil and koalin which work as a gentle exfoliator together and illipe butter to soothe and keep the skin soft.

I've loved this face mask so much since I bought it it's taken a lot of effort not to give into temptation and just use it daily. It's very gentle on my sensitive skin and after use it looks healthy, glowing and hydrated. It is so moisturising my makeup applies beautifully after use.

Makeup Revolution Chocolate Palette

I'm a huge fan of Makeup Revolution and I've been using their eyeshadow palettes a lot this month particularly the Naked chocolate palette. The formula blend easily and the 16 shades allow me to easily create different looks for day or evening whether I'm looking for something soft and simple, smokey, matte or shimmery. This palette is really good value for money.

Charlotte Tilbury Eyebrow Pencil

The next product I have been loving is an eyebrow pencil by Charlotte Tilbury called Brow Lift. This is a double ended product that includes a brush as well as the product itself which is a narrow slant that allows me to apply the product soft light strokes so hairs can be replicated.

This product makes my eyebrows look very natural and it works well whether I've had to rush or take more time. The shade is also a perfect match for my brows.

Makeup Revolution Lipstick in Enchant

In this month's favourites I have a second product by Makeup Revolution and that is their lipstick in Enchant. Since I started using their lipsticks I have been very impressed and I can't still believe the quality you get for just spending £1.00. The formula is light, creamy and moisturing, more so than than some high end products I have tried and the colour selection is great too.

Enchant is unlike any other lipsticks in my collection as it is slightly more lilac toned and I love it. Everytime I wear it my Fiance comments on how he likes my lipstick and this has definitely been a go to product for me.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Transparent Powder

I finally gave into the hype this month and bought the Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder. I've heard lots of people rave about it but haven't tried it as I've always used my MAC MSFN. Lately, I've been finding that a little dark though so I thought I'd take the plunge and try Stay Matte. It's a lovely product. It's light and not cakey in the slightest plus it doesn't add colour to the face. I like this product a lot.

GOSH Forever Lip Shine in Lady Like

The last item for the March favourites is the GOSH Forever Lip Shine. I first tried this at an event in February and I've been hooked ever since. The formula is soft and creamy plus has a subtle hint of shimmer which helps make my lips looks fuller. The colour selection is also gorgeous and I would wear pretty much every shade in the collection. This product glides on effortlessly and reminds me of the Urban Decay Saturated Lip Colours but are actually better because you don't have to sharpen them!

Well that's it for another month... until next time x

Favourites | February Favourites

February Favourites

Another month has gone by in a flash and that means one thing... it's time to share my favourite products with you! Let's get straight into it:

February Favourites: Nuxe Lip Balm

Firstly I have the Nuxe lip balm which is just delicious. It smells like lemon and honey and is very thick and luxurious so does a great job at nourishing my lips. Unlike other lip balms I don't have to constantly re-apply it during the day to keep my lips moisturised as it lasts for hours and a little goes a long way so although this small pot it pretty pricey it lasts ages. I have had mine for months and use it daily.. it's barely even dented!

February Favourites: The Body Shop Baked Blush

Next is a blush I recently re-discovered when I was re-organising my makeup and has been somewhat overlooked in the Winter months. This pretty baked blush is by The Body Shop and is a mixture of two shades, peach and a pretty pink. When swirled together they create a natural looking blush when applied to the cheeks with lots of shimmer so I never wear this with a highlighter.

This blush is great to use during Spring and Summer but I'm also enjoying it now as it makes a refreshing change and gives my cheeky a healthy glow.

February Favourites: Maybelline Dream Touch Blush

Next is a blush I bought last month and have been loving ever since. The Maybelline Dream Touch Blush is so soft and creamy it's a dream to work with and is perfect during the morning when I don't have much time. The shade I have is peach which gives my cheeks a natural healthy glow all day. It's very subtle so can easily be paired with a variety of makeup looks.

February Favourites: MAC Hue Lipstick

Next is a MAC lipstick I've had for ages which is called Hue. This is a pale nude which on it's own doesn't work too well for me as it washes me out but when combined with a lip gloss it gives my lips a pretty splash of baby pink which works beautifully with lots of different make up looks.

I've been using this combination a lot over the past month for work because I don't like to wear too much make-up and don't often go for a bright lip so this is perfect. It looks lovely with a simple neutral eye or a heavier smokey one so is pretty versatile.

February Favourites: MAC Soft and Gentle

Next is an old favourite I hadn't been reaching for much until recently and that is MAC Soft and Gentle. This product looks so pretty in the pan and definitely seems to be never ending because it doesn't matter how much I use it, it never seems to go down which is obviously a good thing.

Soft and Gentle looks gorgeous when added to my cheeks and brow bones and it definitely gives my face a healthy glow. It's a very pretty product that I think will always have a place in my make-up collection.

February Favourites: Revlon Kissable Lip Stain

Last but not least, this month I have been loving my Revlon Kissible Lip Balm. I have this product in the colour Crush which is a beautiful rich berry that reminds me of MAC Rebel lipstick.

I've found the best way to use this lip product is to apply it using a brush as I can get a cleaner line and a less patchy effect. This also means it wears off more evenly too although it is pretty long lasting. I like the Revlon Kissable lip balms because they are comfortable to wear, don't dry my lips and are available in lots of shades.

Well that's it for another month. I look forward to seeing what my favourite are during March.

Favourites | January Favourites

January Favourites feat Rimmel, Origins, MAC, Too Faced, Amazing Cosmetics and Maybelline

It's that time again when I share my favourite products with you beauties and this month is a good one.  It includes some re-discoveries, new products and some old time favourites and is a post I have been looking forward to writing for a while as I missed out on my yearly round up of favourites as I wasn't well enough to write it (boooo). Anyway, hopefully I will make up for it this month! Here we go....

January Favourites feat Rimmel, Origins, MAC, Too Faced, Amazing Cosmetics and Maybelline

I re-discovered my Wake Me Up foundation at the beginning of January as I fancied a change. I didn't realise I had only been using either my Nars Sheer Glow or Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua for the past year so it was about time I switched things up and tried something different.

After being unwell my skin had become a little dry and was looking dull as I hadn't been using any of my trusty beauty products for weeks so it really needed a boost. The first product that came to mind was Rimmel Wake Me Up. This product is known for giving the skin an illuminating glow and without doubt it does that. My skin looks more hydrated and healthy when it is applied. The formula is smooth and creamy too so it glides beautifully over my skin and blends in well, giving medium-full coverage whilst still feeling light.  I just wish at times it wasn't quite so orange toned.

I forgot how nice this foundation was!

January Favourites feat Rimmel, Origins, MAC, Too Faced, Amazing Cosmetics and Maybelline

Another product I re-discovered during January was my Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze. This cream eyeshadow is brilliant and I actually prefer it to some of the higher end products available. It blends beautifully over my eye lids and blends out well as it doesn't dry too quickly but when it does it stays in place all day without creasing or fading.

One and On bronze is also a beautiful easy to wear shade for both day and evening looks. It has a pretty shimmer running through it which lightens it up and leans more towards a grey/taupe than bronze which I actually prefer.

January Favourites feat Rimmel, Origins, MAC, Too Faced, Amazing Cosmetics and Maybelline

One of my all time favourite lipsticks is Rebel by MAC, a rich berry tone which can be worn both during the day and evening. I particularly like wearing it with a neutral smokey eye with black liner as it really makes my lips stand out.

If I'm honest the formulation of MAC lipsticks aren't my favourite on the market as I can find them a little drying at times but Rebel is one of the better ones. It applies smoothly, is very pigmented and is pretty comfortable to wear and long lasting

January Favourites feat Rimmel, Origins, MAC, Too Faced, Amazing Cosmetics and Maybelline

As mentioned above my skin has been suffering from neglect a little lately but one of my saviours has been the Origins Drink It Up Face Mask. Whenever my skin needs a boost I use this product a few times a week and after just a couple of applications I can see a difference.

Despite the name suggesting this is a face mask it more like an overnight moisturiser. Unlike other face masks you don't have to clean it off, instead you leave it to soak into your skin while you sleep. In the morning your skin is left feeling soft, smooth, hydrated and glowing.

January Favourites feat Rimmel, Origins, MAC, Too Faced, Amazing Cosmetics and Maybelline

Without doubt this is the best mascara I have ever used. The colour is very black so it makes my lashes stand out, it gives them volume and length by separating each individual lash without making them look spidery and it doesn't smudge. I love this mascara so much I will be wearing it to my wedding!

January Favourites feat Rimmel, Origins, MAC, Too Faced, Amazing Cosmetics and Maybelline

When I first used this concealer I was a little sceptical about how good it could be for the price, afterall £19.50 is very pricey for a tiny 6ml product that I'd use daily. I'm glad to say I was pleasantly suprised, though. I have used the Amazing Cosmetics concealer for several months now and I love it, in fact it has now become my 'go to' concealer.

This concealer is brilliant on blemishes and covers them up in an instant due to to it's highly pigmented formula which is also very long lasting. It is very thick which means only a tiny amount is needed (less than any other product I have used) but it blends extremely well thanks to the creamy, smooth formula. I also use this concealer under my eyes to cover dark circles which again it is very good at but a little on the heavy side.

Monthly Favourites | July

July Favourites

Yet another month has passed and that means it is time for a round up of my favourite products over the past month. It doesn't feel like that long ago I was doing this for June so it's a little scary to think another month has flown by already! Anyway, here is a peak into my favourite products during July.

July Favourites: Black Cherry Yankee Candle

This month I've been loving cherry scented things including perfumes and this gorgeous Black Cherry Yankee Candle. This is the large jar and has lasted a very long time as I've been using it inbetween other candles for months but re-discovered it during July. This is a great candle because it has a strong scent and smells divine. When I light it within a short period of time the house is filled with delicious black cherries that are good enough to eat and people always comment on it whenever I burn it when we have guests.

July Favourites: Nars Sheer Glow Foundation

Last month I discovered a new foundation which I have been longing to try for quite some time and it goes by the name of Nars Sheer Glow.  I love to have a natural dewy finish to my face so I'm always drawn to these kind of foundations and Sheer Glow seemed like an obvious choice. It had been on my wish list for longer than I can remember when finally I decided to bite the bullet and head down to a Nars counter to grab a sample. From the first use I loved it and a couple of weeks later invested in the full size. The coverage is light-medium, the finish a pretty dewy glow to the skin, the application flawless and the shade match perfect. I really can't fault anything to do with the foundation itself but the packaging does let it down. Despite the expensive price tag there is no pump so you have to buy it separately (an extra £3) and then you can't put the lid on so it's not ideal to keep in your makeup bag. You can lock the pump but I fear it may undo and leak plus it's pretty heavy to carry around because it's glass. As I love the product so much I dont't regret buying it though and would definitely re-purchase.

July Favourites: MAC Soft and Gentle

Soft and Gentle is a stunning highlighter and a product I have been using every day for the past few months. I love how it gives my skin a pretty, subtle glow and you get so much product it could easily last a lifetime. I think this is a product I will always have in my makeup bag!

Makeup Revolution Iconic Palette

This month I have been loving Makeup Revolution products, one of my favourites being the Iconic 1 eye shadow palette. They are an online brand that offer a large range of products at affordable prices and the selection is amazing as well as the quality. I love the Iconic 1 palette because it reminds me of the Urban Decay Naked 1 palette. The colours are gorgeous, very wearable, pigmented, blendable and long lasting.. I really can't fault it!

July Favourites: YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick

I recently wrote a post about my YSL lipstick collection where I included number 5 a gorgeous berry lipstick. I love this shade because it suits my complexion well and makes my blue eyes stand out. I also find the texture of the lipstick moisturising, comfortable to wear and very glossy. I have been wearing this lipstick a lot over the past month!

Review | My Favourite Benefit Products

Favourite Benefit Products

Hello Beauties! Before I start talking about today's blog post I just wanted to apologise for not blogging every day this week. I've had a lot of Internet issues lately so I haven't been able to write up any new posts for over two weeks and instead have been making use of the ones I already had in my drafts. Thankfully a few weeks back I was on a roll and wrote up around 25 posts so I had plenty to choose from until this week when I ran out. My Internet is finally up and running so this weekend I will be able to get back into my normal routine and gets lots of posts ready for you all!

In today's blog post I will be sharing my favourite Benefit products with you which is very exciting because I have been a fan of Benefit for a very long time. Let's get stuck in and look at each of them...

Favourite Benefit Products: Porefessional

First is a very well known Benefit product in the beauty industry and that is Porefessional. I love this product because it is easy to dispense a small amount from the tube and because the packaging is slim it is easy to store. The primer itself is great because it leaves my skin silky soft and helps reduce the size of my pores as well as improve the application of my foundation and keep it in place for longer. I also like that although the colour is nude it is suitable for all skin types because it completely disappears on application so is suitable for everyone. Additionally, it works well on my dry and oily areas.

Porefessional is one of those products I can always rely on. No matter what foundation I pair with it the results are the same and I really enjoy using it. In fact, I've lost count of the number of tubes of this I've gone through!

Favourite Benefit Products: Hello Flawless Foundation

Next is the most recent Benefit product I have tried and that is the *Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation. The first thing I like about this product is the packaging because it makes a refreshing change to see how much product you have left rather than having to guess.

Moving onto the product itself, the coverage is light to medium and is buildable so you can add as much as you like. The texture is light and creamy so it feels comfortable on the skin and is very blendable and easy to work with as it doesn't dry to quickly, streak or cling to patches of skin.

Hello Flawless recently featured in my current top 3 foundations. Read the blog post here.

Favourite Benefit Products: Sugarbomb BlushFavourite Benefit Products: Sugarbomb Blush

Next is one of my 'go to' blushes and that is Sugarbomb. This is a really easy to wear shade because it gives you a really natural pop of colour thanks to the mix of pink, peach, soft plum and rose powders that compliment each other perfectly.  The texture of the powder is a little on the dry side so is more suitable for people who have normal/oily skin or who have well moisturised skin but once applied it doesn't move all day which is perfect if you don't want to touch up your makeup during the day.

I love wearing Sugarbomb all year both during the day and evening as it's such a great shade and goes with so many different makeup looks. It also provides a very subtle shimmer which is really pretty, particularly in Summer.

Favourite Benefit Products: Coralista BlushFavourite Benefit Products: Coralista Blush

Last but not least is another blush but this time Coralista.  This shade isn't quite as natural as Sugarbomb but is equally as pretty and very wearable. I love wearing this blush in the Spring and Summer but also reach for it all year around as it goes with a lot of different makeup looks. Like Sugarbomb, the formula is a little on the dry side but it is still very soft and blendable so it is easy to apply without getting any harsh lines. This is a very pretty product!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my favourite Benefit products. Sorry there weren't swatches of everything but I forgot when I took the photo's and without the internet I haven't been able to upload any more. I've included links to my mini reviews so take a look at those for more photo's and details on each product.

Monthly Favourites | June

June Favourites

Yet another month has passed and that marks us being halfway through 2014.. how crazy as that? New Year feels like yesterday not six months ago and I can't quite get my head around it. Without further ado here are my June favourites:

June Favourites: Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil

This is a brand I hadn't heard of until recently but without doubt this is definitely the best brow product I have ever tried. In the past I have used brow pencils from the high street and then I turned to powder as it looks more natural but the Universal Brow Pencil by Billion Dollar Brows is the perfect combination of the two. The shade is perfect for my brows unlike any other products I have tried and the product is in a retractable pencil so it is convenient and easy to store and travel with.  The product applies beautifully to my brows, is easy to use and has an extremely natural finish, so much so that you can't even tell I have filled them in. The pencil also sports a brush at the end too.. what more could you ask for?!

I will be writing a full review on this product soon... watch this space.

June Favourites: MAC Black Track Eyeliner

Black Track is a product that shamefully has been in my make-up collection for quite some time but I have been put off using it because it seemed like hard work in comparison to using a pen or pencil liner. How wrong I was.

Last month I used this product pretty much every day with a slanted brush (MAC 266) and it was extremely easy to apply, if not easier than using a pen. I was blown away by how simple it was and now I really regret not using this product sooner especially to create a flick because you can be so much more precise meaning it is far easier. The only down point about Black Track is that although in the pot it is jet black when you apply it sometimes you can see your eyelid through it so you may need to apply a second coat or set it with black eyeshadow such as MAC Carbon. This can also occasionally rub off a little on my lid so I have to check it throughout the day but I still love it.

June Favourites: Michael Van Clarke 3 More Inches Volumnising Mousse

Over the past few weeks I have been introduced to a new hair care brand by hairdresser Michael Van Clarke. It started with me attending an event (read review) all about the 3 More Inches range which involved a presentation by the man himself and then the following week I went back to the salon to have a haircut (read review) using the diamond hair cut technique.

Since having my haircut at the salon I have been using all of the Michael Van Clarke products, all of which are brilliant but the one that is featured in my blog post today is the Volumising Mousse. In the past I've used mousse to try and create beachy curls or to simply add volume to my hair when blow drying it but I found they were a bit hit and miss and often dried out my hair. The Michael Van Clarke version is different. So far it it hasn't dried out my hair at all and whether I use a small amount of product or a more generous amount it works and doesn't leave my hair sticky or heavy.

The reason why this particular product is featured in my favourites though is because it is the one product I have used and been able to achieve beachy waves with ease. I've literally tried to create this look for months but it's never ended up how I've wanted but finally I was able to re-create it using this mousse and by scrunching up my hair whilst blow drying it. This product also smells lovely although it is subtle.

June Favourites: Taupe Bayswater Mulberry Bag

Last month I did indulge in a very extravagant purchase and that was the Taupe Bayswater Mulberry bag. I had my eye on this bag for around two years and had always been put off by the high price tag but as the Mulberry sale was on I decided to just go for it once and for all so I got it.  The quality of this bag is beautiful. Everything from the design, leather, colour and smell are perfect and the highest quality... I love it. A full review will be up next week.

June Favourites: Origins Intensive Drink It Up Overnight Face Mask

Last month I found my skin getting a little dry so I decided to invest in a new skin care product to help. The one that first jumped to mind was the Origins Drink It Up Facemask so at the first opportunity I had I headed to the shopping center to get it. After using this product just once my skin was left silky smooth and extremely soft. Admittedly, I did use this product more regularly at first than the packaging advised but I wanted to hydrate my skin quickly so I used this face mask on three consecutive nights and have since switched to once a week. I've seen a big difference in my skin and I don't have any dry patches at all. This product is simply amazing.

While I was there I also picked up a sample of their Make a Difference Moisturiser which is designed for people suffering with dry skin. After just a couple of days of using both of these products my dry skin problems were resolved and I have now ordered the moisturiser too!

Reviews on both will feature on my blog soon.
