Favourites | February Favourites

February Favourites

Another month has gone by in a flash and that means one thing... it's time to share my favourite products with you! Let's get straight into it:

February Favourites: Nuxe Lip Balm

Firstly I have the Nuxe lip balm which is just delicious. It smells like lemon and honey and is very thick and luxurious so does a great job at nourishing my lips. Unlike other lip balms I don't have to constantly re-apply it during the day to keep my lips moisturised as it lasts for hours and a little goes a long way so although this small pot it pretty pricey it lasts ages. I have had mine for months and use it daily.. it's barely even dented!

February Favourites: The Body Shop Baked Blush

Next is a blush I recently re-discovered when I was re-organising my makeup and has been somewhat overlooked in the Winter months. This pretty baked blush is by The Body Shop and is a mixture of two shades, peach and a pretty pink. When swirled together they create a natural looking blush when applied to the cheeks with lots of shimmer so I never wear this with a highlighter.

This blush is great to use during Spring and Summer but I'm also enjoying it now as it makes a refreshing change and gives my cheeky a healthy glow.

February Favourites: Maybelline Dream Touch Blush

Next is a blush I bought last month and have been loving ever since. The Maybelline Dream Touch Blush is so soft and creamy it's a dream to work with and is perfect during the morning when I don't have much time. The shade I have is peach which gives my cheeks a natural healthy glow all day. It's very subtle so can easily be paired with a variety of makeup looks.

February Favourites: MAC Hue Lipstick

Next is a MAC lipstick I've had for ages which is called Hue. This is a pale nude which on it's own doesn't work too well for me as it washes me out but when combined with a lip gloss it gives my lips a pretty splash of baby pink which works beautifully with lots of different make up looks.

I've been using this combination a lot over the past month for work because I don't like to wear too much make-up and don't often go for a bright lip so this is perfect. It looks lovely with a simple neutral eye or a heavier smokey one so is pretty versatile.

February Favourites: MAC Soft and Gentle

Next is an old favourite I hadn't been reaching for much until recently and that is MAC Soft and Gentle. This product looks so pretty in the pan and definitely seems to be never ending because it doesn't matter how much I use it, it never seems to go down which is obviously a good thing.

Soft and Gentle looks gorgeous when added to my cheeks and brow bones and it definitely gives my face a healthy glow. It's a very pretty product that I think will always have a place in my make-up collection.

February Favourites: Revlon Kissable Lip Stain

Last but not least, this month I have been loving my Revlon Kissible Lip Balm. I have this product in the colour Crush which is a beautiful rich berry that reminds me of MAC Rebel lipstick.

I've found the best way to use this lip product is to apply it using a brush as I can get a cleaner line and a less patchy effect. This also means it wears off more evenly too although it is pretty long lasting. I like the Revlon Kissable lip balms because they are comfortable to wear, don't dry my lips and are available in lots of shades.

Well that's it for another month. I look forward to seeing what my favourite are during March.

NUXE REVE DE MIEL LIP BALM REVIEW

Nuce Reve de Miel Lip Balm

In the UK we have been experiencing some strange whether all around the country which has been very variable from one day to another.  We've had rain, floods, cold, wind and sun and due to these changes my lips have been much drier than usual.  Over the past few months I have relying on my pomegranet Burts Bee's lip balm which works very well but once that ran out I was looking to try something different and the obvious choice was the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm as it seems to be hyped about a lot at the moment.

Before I bought the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm I hadn't read much about it so I didn't really know what to expect. All I knew was that everyone was raving about it and therefore first impressions counted for a lot. The packaging is cute and I love the frosted glass on the jar as it makes this product feel expensive (which it is) and it reminds me of the kind of products you would find at a spa.

I've been using the Nuxe lip balm for around four weeks now and I absolutely love it.  The formula is very thick so it feels nourishing on the lips and the consistency is smooth without being sticky or heavy.  As for smell, it is gorgeous. It has a beautiful citrus scent which isn't overpowering in the slightest and even though I'm not usually a big fan of citrus, I really like this.

The ingredients in Reve de Miel include a mixture of honey and precious oils which is said to nourish, repair, soothe and protect the lips.  Without doubt, this lip balm does all of those things and I can't imagine not regularly using it, particularly in the Winter.  The concentrated formula works perfectly to keep my dry lips at under control and although they weren't particularly bad before I started using this product I have definitely seen an improvement which means I can now happily wear any lipsticks I like without the worry of the them looking patchy or making my lips ever more dry.

Priced at £9.50 this lip balm is more expensive than any others I have tried and at first I wondered if it would live up to the hype and price tag but I definitely have not been left disappointed.  Needless to say, when this pot runs out I will definitely be re-purchasing it!

You can buy the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm from Space NK for £9.50 and see more products Nuxe have on offer at their website.

BEAUTY HAUL

Beauty Haul Beauty Haul Beauty Haul Beauty Haul

I haven't splashed out on any beauty products for a while so when pay day came along this month I decided to treat myself to some products I have had on my wish list for a while and others that needed to be replaced as they had run out (read my empties post here).

First on my list was the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm which I have been wanting to try for as long as I can remember.  Don't get me wrong, I still love the REN Cleansing Balm but I fancied something different to try so when I finished my last bottle I decided it was the perfect time to pick up a new one.  I've heard nothing but good things about the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm and even when I purchased it in Debenhams using my beauty points the lady who served me raved about it.. I have very high hopes for this product and I will be using it for the first time later on today.

Next on my shopping list was the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm as my Burts Bees one is finished and I wanted a more concentrated one to treat my dry lips.  My lips are not severely chapped but I have noticed they haven't been as smooth as normal over the past few weeks so I wanted to start using a new lip balm as soon as possible to prevent them from getting worse.  I have already started using the Nuxe lip balm and although it is early days so far I am loving it. The formula is very thick, creamy and nourishing plus it smells gorgeous.

In my empties post last week I mentioned I had run out of my Benefit Erase Paste. This concealer has lasted me a very long time, It has been a staple in my make-up bag for around 18 months so I definitely had to re-purchase it. Benefit Erase Paste has a very thick and creamy formula which is perfect for covering blemishes or dark under eye circles.  It also works really well with my Chanel Vital Lumiere Aqua Foundation.

As well as buying the Benefit concealer I decided to re-invest in my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. This is a product I have used in the past and loved but sadly I accidentally left it in the bathroom on a night out and I never saw it again.  It isn't quite as thick as the Benefit Erase Paste but it my favourite drug store concealer and I have really missed it so while I was in Superdrug I decided to buy another one.

Lastly, I invested in quite a few nail polishes.  I was on the look out for a glitter to add as an accent nail with my Essie Maximillian Strasse Her polish and at the time I couldn't decide on whether I wanted to go with pink or silver.  As I change my nail colour once a week I knew I would get use out of any colours I choose so I decided to go for a selection so I could swatch them and see which one worked best with my outfit.  The ones I got were Hors d'Oeuvres (silver) and A Cut Above (chunky pink) by Essie and Pink Silver Glitter by Barry M. Whilst at the Barry M stand I also noticed the new Silk collection which looked stunning so I also picked up these pretty pink in shade Blossom. I can't wait to use them!
