Favourites | February Favourites

February Favourites

Another month has gone by in a flash and that means one thing... it's time to share my favourite products with you! Let's get straight into it:

February Favourites: Nuxe Lip Balm

Firstly I have the Nuxe lip balm which is just delicious. It smells like lemon and honey and is very thick and luxurious so does a great job at nourishing my lips. Unlike other lip balms I don't have to constantly re-apply it during the day to keep my lips moisturised as it lasts for hours and a little goes a long way so although this small pot it pretty pricey it lasts ages. I have had mine for months and use it daily.. it's barely even dented!

February Favourites: The Body Shop Baked Blush

Next is a blush I recently re-discovered when I was re-organising my makeup and has been somewhat overlooked in the Winter months. This pretty baked blush is by The Body Shop and is a mixture of two shades, peach and a pretty pink. When swirled together they create a natural looking blush when applied to the cheeks with lots of shimmer so I never wear this with a highlighter.

This blush is great to use during Spring and Summer but I'm also enjoying it now as it makes a refreshing change and gives my cheeky a healthy glow.

February Favourites: Maybelline Dream Touch Blush

Next is a blush I bought last month and have been loving ever since. The Maybelline Dream Touch Blush is so soft and creamy it's a dream to work with and is perfect during the morning when I don't have much time. The shade I have is peach which gives my cheeks a natural healthy glow all day. It's very subtle so can easily be paired with a variety of makeup looks.

February Favourites: MAC Hue Lipstick

Next is a MAC lipstick I've had for ages which is called Hue. This is a pale nude which on it's own doesn't work too well for me as it washes me out but when combined with a lip gloss it gives my lips a pretty splash of baby pink which works beautifully with lots of different make up looks.

I've been using this combination a lot over the past month for work because I don't like to wear too much make-up and don't often go for a bright lip so this is perfect. It looks lovely with a simple neutral eye or a heavier smokey one so is pretty versatile.

February Favourites: MAC Soft and Gentle

Next is an old favourite I hadn't been reaching for much until recently and that is MAC Soft and Gentle. This product looks so pretty in the pan and definitely seems to be never ending because it doesn't matter how much I use it, it never seems to go down which is obviously a good thing.

Soft and Gentle looks gorgeous when added to my cheeks and brow bones and it definitely gives my face a healthy glow. It's a very pretty product that I think will always have a place in my make-up collection.

February Favourites: Revlon Kissable Lip Stain

Last but not least, this month I have been loving my Revlon Kissible Lip Balm. I have this product in the colour Crush which is a beautiful rich berry that reminds me of MAC Rebel lipstick.

I've found the best way to use this lip product is to apply it using a brush as I can get a cleaner line and a less patchy effect. This also means it wears off more evenly too although it is pretty long lasting. I like the Revlon Kissable lip balms because they are comfortable to wear, don't dry my lips and are available in lots of shades.

Well that's it for another month. I look forward to seeing what my favourite are during March.

Clinique Chubby Sticks Review | Mega Melon, Woppin Watermelon & Super Strawberry

Clinique Chubby Sticks Clinique Chubby Sticks Clinique Chubby Sticks

The Clinique Chubby sticks have been on the market for a long time and were the'original' lipstick/lip balm hybrid product in this style packaging.  There is now a lot of competition for these Chubby Sticks as Soap and Glory, Revlon, Rimmel, MUA and Boujois have released similar, cheaper equivalents which are brilliant dupes but personally I prefer the Clinique versions because I find them more moisturising.

I have three Clinique Chubby sticks in my collection including Mega Melon which is a deep burnt orange/red shade, Woppin' Watermelon which is a baby pink and Super Strawberry which is a beautiful medium blue toned pink.  I love all of these shades because they are really different from each other but my most worn are the pink's because I find they suit me better. When compared to the drug store versions I think Clinique offer a smaller colour selection but the ones they do have are beautiful.

The packaging of the Chubby Sticks is adorable. I love that the outta casing represents the same colour as the lip product hidden inside and because it is retractable you don't need to worry about sharpening which is perfect. I'm not a fan of having to sharpen products because it always ends up getting messy.

The formula of these lip products as mentioned previously is a hybrid between a lipstick and a lip balm leaning more on the latter. The texture is smooth, glossy and moisturising so they are very comfortable to wear and easy to apply.  The formula is sheer but is buildable so if you want a more opaque finish you can build up more colour but they aren't as pigmented as a standard lipstick. As for the lasting power, it isn't particularly long but as they are sheer it is easy to apply this product on the go without the need of a mirror if necessary so I don't find this to be a problem. I would much rather have a product that is moisturising on my lips than one that lasts longer and dries them out.

Priced at £17.00 the Clinique Chubby sticks are expensive but they are a really lovely product.

:: Best Products of 2012 ::

:: Top 5 Products of 2012 ::

Happy New Year everyone! Sorry I haven't done any posts for a few days, i'm poorly at the moment and couldn't face staring at the PC.

My post today will show you my top 5 products for 2012.  I've been umming and ahhing on whether to include products which I have used but not had a chance to review yet as my blog has only been up and running since the end of November.  In the end I have decided to only choose products where I have written and review.

So let's get started.

1. Okay, I know this product has been around for years but it gets the number one spot for me because not only is it a great product but is also soo convenient.  The number 1 spot goes to Batiste Dry Shampoo.  Read the review here.

2.Second up is the Lush lip scrub in mint.  This product is amazing and since using it I have really noticed a difference in my lips.  They are very soft and smooth... the dry, chapped lips I was suffering with this winter is a thing of the past! Hurrah! Read the review here.

3. Next up is Soap and Glory's Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Sticks.  This product is a cross between a lip balm and a lip gloss which also smells gorgeous (of vanilla, just like Max lipsticks).  This is a great product, I really hope they bring out more colours this year.  Read the review here.

4.  In fourth place is Nivea's express hydrating  moisuriser and primer.  This is a great time saver and prepares your skin for you makeup application.At a bargain price, it really is impressive.  Read the review here.

5. Last but not least is Barry M Nail Varnishes.  Barry M is a brilliant brand for nail varnishes and definitely deserves a mention.  Sparkles and glitter have been a big trend recently so my top nail varnish for 2012 has got to be the no. 349 Rose Quartz Glitter. This gorgeous varnish is great to use with any colour underneath and makes your nails super, super sparkly! It's been perfect for the party season!

What was your favourite product of 2012?

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their comments on my posts.  I've got a bit behind responding as I haven't been on here but I will catch up over the next couple of days, hopefully I will be feeling better by then.

:: Burt's Bees ::

:: Burt's Bees Lip Balm ::

Over the past few weeks I have noticed that my lips have been getting really dry.  I'm not sure what the cause is as I have never had this problem before but it has urged me to invest in a hydrating lip balm.

The one I chose is Burt's Bees Beeswax lip balm with pomegranate oil. I was drawn to this particular product because of the natural ingredients.  This product s a gorgeous deep red/pink colour but on the lips is is completely clear.  It's consistency is nice and you are able to apply a thin layer so it does not feel heavy on your lips. Be careful not to get too carried away and apply too much at a time, though.

I wasn't too sure about the scent of this lip balm at first but it has grown on me, it also tastes pretty nice. There are other versions of this product available too, such as natural, pink blossom and acai berry so if you're not keen on the sound of pomegranate there other options to try.

I read a few reviews before buying this lip balm and they were very mixed. This is either a love it or hate it product.  After six weeks of trying this lip balm I have found that my lips definitely haven't got any worse. Some days they are still a little dry but the majority of the time they have felt much smoother. I do, however, apply it several times a day.

Top Tip: if your lips are dry apply some lip balm before your lipstick, this will help them from drying out more and will make the lipstick look smooth.

This lip balm is available from Boots for £3.69.
