Barry M Pink Silver Polish Review

Barry M Barry M

Everyone knows I love a bit a sparkle and pink so why not combine the two in a polish? I picked up Barry M Pink Silver Polish in my most recent haul and I've worn it almost every day since.  Unlike other glitter polishes in my collection, this one is very fine so it looks subtle and pretty on the nails even when you wear it on all of them rather than just on an accent nail. I also love the pretty pink shade in this polish as it isn't so pale you could call it a pastel but at the same time it isn't bright and in your face. Without doubt Pink Silver Glitter is definitely one of my favourite polishes at the moment!

Pink Silver Glitter applies beautifully and after two coats you get a gorgeous opaque finish and after a third a flawless finish.  The staying power is also pretty good as it lasted around five days before chipping, however, when it came to removing it naturally it was a nightmare as it's a glitter polish.  I seem to remember reading a trick for removing glitter polish sometime ago but I can't remember what it was now... if you know please leave a comment below as I'd be very grateful!

Priced at only £2.99 this polish is a bargain and one I will definitely be using a lot over Spring and Summer. You can buy it in your local drugstore, such as Superdrug.

For anyone who is wondering, the other polish pictured above is Essie Hors D'Oeuvres which is a very pretty silver glitter suspended in gold liquid.

BARRY M GELLY HI-SHINE LYCHEE NAIL PAINT REVIEW

Barry M Lychee Nail Paint Barry M Lychee Nail Paint

I think one staple nail polish anyone can have in their collection is a good nude shade because it goes perfectly with any outfit whether it be for during the day or the evening. I have a few nude shades in my collection but my favourite is definitely Lychee from Barry M because this shade works really well with my skin tone.  This polish is from the Hi Shine Gelly Nail Paint range which is my favourite collection from Barry M because I love the consistency of the formula, the colour range, staying power and the glossy shine.

The first coat of Lychee applies nicely across the nail as it is easy to be precise due to the small size of the brush.  The first coat is a little streaky but this is soon corrected with the second as you are left with a gorgeous glossy and flawless finish. The consistency of the polish is pretty thick so you do need to be careful you don't apply too much on each layer otherwise it takes longer to dry and you can get a little build up where the excess polish has collected but it does naturally even out very well so you do end up with smooth and even coverage if you apply a less generous amount. Less is definitely more!

Being a nude shade, Lychee works brilliantly when combined with other polishes whether they be solid colour or glitter. At the moment I'm going through a stage of loving glitter accent nails so I have teamed this shade with Essie Hors D'Oeuvres which is a stunning large silver glitter suspended in gold liquid. I love that this shade is so versatile you can create a completely different look every time you wear it it or simply enjoy how nice it is on it's own.

Barry M Lychee is the perfect 'go to' shade and I get a lot of use out of this polish all year around. It makes a nice change for Barry M to have a more neutral toned polish and I wish they would add more lighter shades like this to their collections as I do find they have a tendency to either be very dark or bright.  If you want to add Lychee to your collection to you can purchase it from Boots for £3,99. Boots and Superdrug often do offers on Barry M products so keep an eye out for those!

SPRING NAIL POLISHES FEAT ESSIE AND BARRY M

Spring Polishes - Essie and Barry M Spring Polishes - Essie and Barry M Spring Polishes - Essie and Barry M Spring Polishes - Essie and Barry M

Hello Beauties! It's the run up to Spring, the weather is cold but the flowers are starting to spring up, the sun is shining and the sky is a beautiful pastel blue.  This wonderful weather is the inspiration for today's blog post and features some gorgeous polishes that are perfect for the Spring.

Barry M Lychee // Link

Lychee is part the of gelly range which I love because it is long lasting and leaves a beautiful shine on my nails. This is also a very neutral shade so it goes with a whole host of outfits for both the day and evening.  Personally, I find this to be the perfect nude shade as it isn't too dark or light.

Essie Not Just a Pretty Face // Link

Out of the selection of polishes featured in the most this is definitely my most worn as it is a pretty pink pastel shade that goes with a lot of outfits.  I love that it gives your nails a subtle hint of colour without being too in your face.

Essie Go Ginza // Link

This was a shade from the Spring collection last year and it is a very pretty lilac shade which has pink undertones.  This polish looks lovely on its own or when teamed with a pretty accent nail and it is a colour I'm going to try and wear more this year.

Essie Bikini So Teeny // Link

I've never been a big fan of blue nail polishes but Bikini So Teeny is a really pretty blue that I added to my collection last year and love it.

Essie Maximillian Strasse Her // Link

This is an unusual shade but it makes a refreshing change from your typical pastel colours in Spring.  This is a pretty duck egg blue colour with a slight green/grey tone which looks very pretty on it's own or when teamed with a silver glitter accent nail. I wore this combination to a wedding yesterday and lots of people commented on my nails. Maximillian Strasse Her was part of the Spring Collection last year.

What do you think of my picks?

RE-DISCOVERED PRODUCTS

Empties Empties Empties

Although the weather is pretty awful here in the UK, especially for those poor people where there has been flooding over the past couple of weeks there has been the odd blue sky and spot of sunshine where I live.  This combined with rooting around in my make-up collection has inspired today's post featuring products that I recently re-discovered. I love it when that happens because in a strange way it feels like you've just purchased them and they are brand new again. Here are the re-discovered products I have been loving:

Maybelline The Falsies // Link

When I first bought this mascara last year it was because I gave into the hype around it. The Falsies seemed to pop up on every blog and You Tube channel I followed so I eventually gave in and bought it.  If I'm honest when I first got it I wasn't a fan at all.  I found it to be very thick and clumpy and after just a few uses it ended up in the bottom of my make-up drawer to be completely forgotten about until the last month.  I'm not sure what made me try it again but this time when using it I decided to scrape the excess product off before using it and it turns out when you do this, The Falsies is amazing! It separates my lashes beautifully, my eyes look defined, my lashes full and lengthened and overall I've been very impressed.  It's a shame to have to scrape the product off first but this isn't something new to me as I also have to do this with my YSL Shocking Mascara.  I never thought I'd say it but I'm converted and love this mascara, I'm so glad I gave it a second chance.

Barry M Gelly Nail Paints // Link

I love Barry M nail polishes but as I mostly have only bright colours suitable for Spring and Summer they have been a little un-loved over the past few months.  This all changed a few weeks ago when I began mixing up my nail polishes as I was getting a little bored of my dark shades and berry tones.  My favourite of all the polishes in the Barry M range are the gel polishes and it's so nice to be using them again, even if it is a little early for these shades!

Soap and Glory Solar Powder // Link

Since discovering Nars Laguna bronzer all the others in my collection haven't really been looked at until this month when I re-discovered Soap and Glory Solar Powder looking a bit sorry for itself in my make-up drawer.  After a bit of a tidy up it looked as good as new and I've been really enjoying using it again as it makes a change to Laguna.  Solar Powder is a very pretty, wearable shade which gives the skin a natural glow so it's perfect for me to use with my pasty complexion at the moment.

L'Oreal Glam Shine Lip Glosses // Link

When I was younger I used to wear lip glosses non-stop.  There was never a day that went past without me constantly topping it up and being on the hunt for a new one but as I've got older and delved into the world of lip crayons, stains and lipsticks they haven't had much of a look in.   After re-organising my make-up collection a few weeks ago, however, I found my L'Oreal Glam Shine lip glosses and remembered how lovely they are.  Since, I have been wearing them every day either on their own or over the top of my lipsticks and it's been really nice to have an added sheen to my lips and re-discover these pretty products.  The wonderful thing about these glosses is the formula because they are not sticky in the slightest so they are very comfortable to wear.. I also love the heart shaped applicator as you get precise yet quick application.

Dior Addict Lip Gloss

The first thing that attracted me to the Dior lip glosses is the beautiful packaging.  They look stunning sitting in the displays with the transparent and silver casings containing sparkly product waiting to be used.  Again, this is a lip gloss which has a lovely formula because it isn't sticky so it is comfortable to wear and I wore it a lot over the Summer last year when I first bought it.  In the lead up to Spring I can imagine I will also get a lot of use out of it... It's too pretty to stay in the drawer!

What do you think of my picks? What are your re-discovered products?

Barry M Red Glitter Nail Polish Review

Barry M Red Glitter Nail Polish

Barry M Red Glitter Nail Polish

Barry M Red Glitter Nail Polish

Today's post features a stunning nail polish from Barry M called 'Red Glitter' which is perfect for the festive season.  Last year this was the polish I wore over the Christmas period and it will definitely be the one I am wearing again this year.

Being a glitter, this polish is a really versatile shade.  It can be used on it's own, as an accent nail or paired with a simple red polish.  I think I am going to do the latter this year. I plan to use a simple red all over my nails and then add a little extra glam and sparkle using 'Red Glitter' on my accent nail.

The formulation of Red Glitter is made up of lots of tiny red specs of glitter suspended in a transparent liquid.  It is reasonably thick so you can build up a dense looking glitter on your nails pretty quickly and after 2-3 coats you have a flawless finish.  Once paired with a base and top coat this polish stays in place for around a week without any chips so is perfect to wear over Christmas and New Year.  I also find the deep red to be the perfect shade.  It isn't too dark yet isn't too bright either.

You can buy Barry M Red Glitter from Superdrug for the bargain price of £2.99.

Barry M Nail Art Pen Review

Barry M Nail Art Pen

Barry M Nail Art Pen

Barry M Nail Art Pen

Barry M Nail Art Pen

Barry M Nail Art Pen

I am always very envious when I look at nail blogs or pictures on Twitter or Instagram because there are so many talented nail art people out there.  I love the creative designs and techniques and could quite easily spend hours looking at them getting inspiration.  Despite this, it's not often I actually do anything adventurous with my nails.  I tend to stick to safe options so they easily match different outfits throughout the week and aren't too prominent at work.

I spotted the Barry M Nail Art pen quite some time ago whilst buying some polishes and as there was an offer I decided to buy it.  There were two options available, gold and silver but I opted for the silver to match my jewellery. Although, there are actually other colours available in the collection.

To use, you simply pump the tip of the pen until you start to see the silver formulation and then you're good to draw any design you want.  I opted for something super simple and something I love to see on nails, polka dots.  Although mine aren't particularly neat (this was a first attempt and rushed) the pen is very easy to use and it's fine tip means you can be very precise.

I'm very impressed by the Barry M Nail Art Pen.  The formula dried very quickly so you don't have to worry about smudging,  you can get precise application and a variety of colours are available.  I will definitely be using this pen regularly and might even splash out on some more colours in the range!

You can by the Barry M Nail Art pen from Superdrug for £4.99.

NOTD // Rimmel and Barry M Sparkly Coral Review

Hello Lovelies!

For today's nails I have gone for a combination of two different effects.  Firstly, a Barry M gelly nail paint in Dragon Fruit which gives a gorgeous pop of colour perfect for spring/summer (more the latter) and secondly a sparkly glitter by Rimmel.  The gelly paint gives your nails a lovely shine and only requires two layers for a flawless finish whereas this top coat adds something a little extra which is perfect if you don't want to have a plain nail design or anything too fancy.  The glitter element isn't too heavy but obviously if you want added sparkle just add an another layer.

The combination of these two nail polishes plus base and a plain top coat lasts on my nails for around five days without chipping which is brilliant.

Sorry these pictures a tad blurry, since taking these pics I've actually re-painted my nails so I couldn't retake them.

The Barry M nail paints are available at for £3.99 and the Rimmel Sparkly Top Coat for around £4.49 at Boots.

What do you think of this look?

Barry M Gelly Nail Paint Review

Barry M Gelly Nail Paint

Hello Beauty Lovers!

Any regular readers of my blog will know that I love Barry M polishes so I was super excited when they brought out their high shine gelly range.

Some of the gorgeous colours available include these beauties that I picked up:

Grapefruit - This is a lovely bright barbie pink with a slight coral undertone, great to wear in Summer.

Greenberry - This is a blue aqua marine colour which is perfect for spring. It is such a fresh, bright colour to wear.

Pomegranet - A deep pink with red undertones makes this a colour

There are 13 shades in total and the others include: Papaya (Pale-Med orange), Dragon Fruit (Pale Pink), Lychee (Nude), Satsuma (Bright Orange), Prikly Pear (Lilac), Blueberry (Light blue), Blood Orange (Deep orange), Watermelon (Dark Green/Blue), Blackberry (Navy) and Plum (Purple).

The formulation of the polish is similar to those in the standard Barry M range and leaves a flawless finish on your nails after two coats (one can leave it streaky depending on the colour).  The finish is beautiful and it isn't too thick or thin on your nails meaning it is durable.  I wore this polish without base or top coat (naughty, naughty) chip free for around 4 days which is very impressive.

These polishes dried fully within a few minutes so you don't have to wait around for too long and they leave a very high shine on your nails which is comparable to the gel nails you can get done at a salon.

As for the packaging... it's the same as any of the Barry M polishes with the exception of the lid being silver.  I find the packaging great because they are a really nice shape so do not take up too much storage space and they look sleek and expensive. The brush is also a good size (narrow) which makes application easy and mess free.

I love that these colours are super pigmented and give you nails a very high gloss appearance, something which I look for in a polish.

Here's a look at how Greenberry looks once applied:

These nail paints are available at Superdrug for £3.99.

Have you tried these lovely polishes yet? If so, what did you think?

Barry M Textured Polish Review

Today i'm doing a review on Barry M's Textured polish.  This is the latest nail craze and I love that people are being more inventive with their designs and textures etc.

I picked this up in Superdrug and thought i'd try out the yellow shade 'Station Road' just because I wanted something different than the usual pinks and reds in my collection.  It looks pretty in the bottle as it's a pale, lemon with a slight shimmer.

When applying this polish I found that it is very thin and runny compared to the original Barry M nail paints, which I didn't like.  It made it quite hard to control where the colour was going and proved to be a lot messier than usual (I normally never get the varnish on my fingers).  It also meant the polish was really patchy on application but after two coats it was dense and perfect.

It's interesting to watch this polish dry as you can slowly see the texture changing and it becoming more bumpy but I can't say i'm a big fan of it.  I think it's because for me it kind of looks like you didn't let you nails dry properly and you've touched something and it's gone all bumpy rather than drying smooth.  I know the whole point of this polish is that it isn't smooth but it just doesn't appeal to me which is dissappointing.

The one time I used this polish I was very impressed with the staying power.  Although, the formula is thin on application it dries quite thick and stayed chip-proof for around 4 days.  This was without any top coat as that takes away the texture effect if you use it.

Overall, I wasn't too keen on the textured polish and I won't be purchasing any more. I'm pretty disappointed as I love Barry M polishes but this one definitely wasn't for me.  I might try this colour again in the summer with a tan but to be honest i'm not a big fan of the yellow and it's unlikely I will use it again.

You can pick up these polishes from Boots for £3.99.

Barry M Glitter polish

For Christmas I wanted to use a festive colour on my nails and the obvious choice was red.  I'm a big fan of Barry M polishes so one that I just had to buy is no 150 Red Glitter.  This gorgeous varnish has a clear base with lots and lots of red glitter. They definitely didn't hold back with this one which is one of things I love about it.  I hate it when you buy a glitter polish which on application has hardly any glitter at all and you end up having to do layer after layer in order to get a good coverage.

This varnish looks great on it's own or teamed with any red base.  It would also look pretty nice with a gold base too although I haven't tried that yet.  The base I chose is the Nina Ultra Pro varnish in Celebration.  I picked this up at Sally's years ago but there are also loads of great alternatives on the market.  Instead of going for an all over glitter look I decided to just add a splash of glitter at the ends on my nails.

I've already mentioned this formulation has loads of glitter which means you really only need to use one coat.  This is obviously really good because it means your varnish will last even longer! The staying power is also pretty good.  These two varnishes teamed with a base and top coat stayed on my nails chip free for 4 days and even then the chips I had were very minor.

As this is a glitter polish I found it is pretty easy to fill in the gaps without it being noticable too.. always a good thing! Just make sure you apply the base colour first otherwise you don't get a good result.

Apologies for these photo's, the lighting wasn't that great on the day I took them so they'll do look a little duller than I would have liked.

The Barry M Red Glitter Polish is available for £2.99 at Boots.

Are you going to give this varnish a try?
