THE BODY SHOP CORAL BLUSH & HIGHLIGHTER DUO REVIEW

In the past The Body Shop has primarily been a place I relate to skin care but over the years I have delved in the odd piece of make-up too.  I find the prices of The Body Shop make-up pretty expensive but then when I remind myself of their ethical background and stance against animal testing I am willing to pay the price.

My most recent purchase from The Body Shop is this beautiful blush and highlighter duo in the colour Coral.  Whilst the packaging shows off the product well it's pretty basic and dare I say boring and I can't make up my mind if I like it or not.  It definitely makes the product eye catching and I like the domed shape but it does feel a little cheap.  As for the product itself, 'Coral' is a beautiful natural pink shade which is creamy and blendable so it is very easy to use.  This is a key attribute I look for in a blush as I'm not one of those people who has a lot of time and patience to keep blending it out to stop the streaky un-natural lines you can get. I like something that is simple, quick and reliable.

When I first used this blush I found it to be extremely shimmery so I think there must have been something on the outer layer because since it has been much more matte, which I prefer because initially it was a little bit like a disco ball. Now this blush gives a gorgeous natural glow to my cheeks which is very pretty and goes with a whole host of different make-up looks.  As for the highlighter element, this seems pretty matte to me too so rather than apply this to my cheek bones I like to use my MAC Soft and Gentle highlighter and instead swirl this one into the blush which makes a beautiful combination.

This blush has been a little neglected since I bought it for no reason other than I put it into my Muji drawers and besides using it a handful of times I pretty much forgot about it.  When I recently found it again I remembered how pretty it is and I will definitely be using it more over the Spring and Summer months.  The shade is very girly, pretty and pigmented,  the blush lasts all day and this shade is different to any others in my collection.

You can buy this pretty coral blush from The Body Shop for £12.00.  As a side note, have you tried their reward card? I find it to be one of the best on the high street and I would definitely recommend it.. they even give you a £5.00 voucher on your birthday!

BARRY M GELLY HI-SHINE LYCHEE NAIL PAINT REVIEW

Barry M Lychee Nail Paint Barry M Lychee Nail Paint

I think one staple nail polish anyone can have in their collection is a good nude shade because it goes perfectly with any outfit whether it be for during the day or the evening. I have a few nude shades in my collection but my favourite is definitely Lychee from Barry M because this shade works really well with my skin tone.  This polish is from the Hi Shine Gelly Nail Paint range which is my favourite collection from Barry M because I love the consistency of the formula, the colour range, staying power and the glossy shine.

The first coat of Lychee applies nicely across the nail as it is easy to be precise due to the small size of the brush.  The first coat is a little streaky but this is soon corrected with the second as you are left with a gorgeous glossy and flawless finish. The consistency of the polish is pretty thick so you do need to be careful you don't apply too much on each layer otherwise it takes longer to dry and you can get a little build up where the excess polish has collected but it does naturally even out very well so you do end up with smooth and even coverage if you apply a less generous amount. Less is definitely more!

Being a nude shade, Lychee works brilliantly when combined with other polishes whether they be solid colour or glitter. At the moment I'm going through a stage of loving glitter accent nails so I have teamed this shade with Essie Hors D'Oeuvres which is a stunning large silver glitter suspended in gold liquid. I love that this shade is so versatile you can create a completely different look every time you wear it it or simply enjoy how nice it is on it's own.

Barry M Lychee is the perfect 'go to' shade and I get a lot of use out of this polish all year around. It makes a nice change for Barry M to have a more neutral toned polish and I wish they would add more lighter shades like this to their collections as I do find they have a tendency to either be very dark or bright.  If you want to add Lychee to your collection to you can purchase it from Boots for £3,99. Boots and Superdrug often do offers on Barry M products so keep an eye out for those!

What do you think of Barry M Lychee?

TAG: 7 DEADLY SINS OF BEAUTY

7 Deadly Sins of Beauty

GREED: What is your inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?
My most inexpensive would have to be Barry M or Essie nail polishes. I don't have masses of different varnishes in my collection but I could quite easily buy loads of them, especially the pretty glitter polishes Barry M have at the moment.. they are gorgeous! Another inexpensive item are Lush bath bombs.. I have a bit of an addiction to those, oops!

My most expensive is my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation which I adore and my eyeshadow palettes by Chanel (the limited edition Christmas 2014 one which is stunning), the Urban Decay Naked 1 and Vice 2 Palettes and my MAC palettes.  Another expensive item which I suppose isn't strictly beauty but features on my blog a lot are candles. My favourites are by Laura Mercier, Jo Malone (the pomegranate one is amazing), Bubb and Dimples and of course Yankee Candle.

WRATH: What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What product has been the hardest to get?
The item which I have a love hate relationship is the Maybelline the Falsies mascara.  I first bought it because I gave into the hype going around the blogosphere and I was left disappointed because I found the product unreliable.  Each time I used it I got a different result.  Sometimes I would love it and other times I would find the formula to be very clumpy which left my lashes looking horrible. Since, I have discovered the best way to use this product is to wipe off the excess mascara before application.

GLUTTONY: What are your most delicious beauty products?
This has definitely got to be YSL lipsticks and Dior Lip glosses.  The packaging is just as beautiful as the product itself. I love the bright gold casing on YSL lipsticks with the delicate detailing in the middle showing off the brand name and a sneaky peak at the shade that is hidden inside. The Dior lip glosses always stand out to me on the display stands because the glitter against the silver and transparent casing looks gorgeous!

I also have to mention the Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille Soufflé here because it smells incredible and is a beautifully delicious moisturiser.

SLOTH: What beauty products do you neglect due to laziness?
This has got to be skin care products for my body. Since buying the Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille Souffle body cream I've been much better as I absolutely adore that product but if there's one thing I neglect to do it will be this, usually due to tiredness or just simply not remembering!

PRIDE: What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?
Two products fall into this category for me.  Firstly is foundation because even though I haven't got particularly bad skin if gives me a confidence boost that any imperfections are covered up and evens out my skin tone.  I also find mascara improves my confidence because it opens up my eyes and makes me look more awake and ready to take on the day.

LUST: What products do you lust after?
This has got to be Tom Ford make-up. It looks stunning and I keep hearing amazing things about it but it's just SO expensive!

ENVY: What items would you most like to receive as a gift?
- Tom Ford makeup
- YSL Lipstick
- Jo Malone Candles
- Laura Mercier skin or beauty items

DRUG STORE BEAUTY WISH LIST

Drugstore Wish List

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation | £8.99 | Link
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick | £8.00 | Link
Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer | £10.00 | Link
Real Techniques Stippling Brush | £11.99 | Link
Charles Worthington  Moisture Seal Intense Rescue Melting Balm | £16.99 | Link
Models Own HyperGels Nail Polish | £5.00 | Link
Revlon Lip Butter | £7.99 | Link

Lately I've been featuring quite a lot of high end products on my blog so I thought it would be nice to share some of the drug store beauty products I have my eye on at the moment.  I'm not looking to buy any of these soon as I want to save my pennies and only treat myself to one or two small things a month but they are definitely products that have caught my eye and ones I would like to add to my collection sometime.

First on my list is the Real Techniques Stippling Brush as I'd like to see what it is like to apply foundation.  My favourite brush to use is the Sigma F80 which is a dense flat kabuki but I really need more than one 'go to' foundation brush in my collection because it will be much easier when it comes to cleaning.  At the moment I'm having to use a flat foundation brush or my fingers which is okay but not ideal.  From what I have seen, the Real Techniques Stippling brush has had good reviews and it is the closest brush to the F80 I have come across. Out of all the items on my wish list this is definitely the one I want to try the most.

Second on my list is the Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer. If I'm honest I don't actually need another concealer in my collection as I recently bought a brand new pot of Benefit Erase Paste and the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in a recent haul so I won't consider buying this until one of those is finished but I keep hearing so many great things about this concealer I would love to try it.  I'm a big fan of Soap and Glory and this concealer is three in one so sounds perfect for covering dark under eye circles, blemishes and keeping them in place.

The Models Own HyperGels range was recently launched and I've been seeing them popping up on blogs, Twitter and Instagram non stop since.  The colours selection are pastels from what I have seen and they all look like gorgeous colours which are perfect for Spring. They also all have a high gloss finish which I love! I have never actually tried any products from models Own either so I'm intrigued to see how they compare to my favourite nail polish brands Barry M, Essie and OPI.

Last year when the Revlon Lip Butters were launched I bought two which I loved and used regularly. One shade was Sweet Tart, a vibrant pink which is great to wear in Spring and Summer and the other a pale every day shade that sadly met a horrible end as I left it in my handbag on the floor with the underfloor heating turned on.... Oops.  I love the formulation of the Lip Butters because they are buttery, soft and moisturising so I would love to add one or two more to my collection.  The quilted packaging is also super cute!

I'm a big fan of Soap and Glory products and one of my favourites has been the Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick.  I have the deep red which is Plum Jam and I love it because it has a high gloss finish, is moisturisng and the colour is buildable.  This is the perfect product for people who want to try a red lip colour but don't want anything too vibrate as you can layer it and choose how much pigmentation you want.  Unfortunately the colour selection of the Soap and Glory Gloss Sticks is small but I'd love the try the nude and pink shades.

Next on my wish list is the Revlon Nearly Naked foundation.  I'm a little dubious about trying this because I love my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation so much nothing seems to compare to it but I keep hearing really good things about this Revlon one so I've been tempted to try it for a while now!

Lastly is the Charles Worthington Melting Balm - how delicious does that sound?! I love using hair masks regularly on my hair because it is long, I don't get it cut very regularly any more and I use a lot of heat and products on it so I think it is important to give it a deep nourishing treatment.  I really like Charles Worthington products as they work well with my hair and smell amazing so I have high hopes for this one!

What do you think of my wish list?

NUXE REVE DE MIEL LIP BALM REVIEW

Nuce Reve de Miel Lip Balm

In the UK we have been experiencing some strange whether all around the country which has been very variable from one day to another.  We've had rain, floods, cold, wind and sun and due to these changes my lips have been much drier than usual.  Over the past few months I have relying on my pomegranet Burts Bee's lip balm which works very well but once that ran out I was looking to try something different and the obvious choice was the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm as it seems to be hyped about a lot at the moment.

Before I bought the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm I hadn't read much about it so I didn't really know what to expect. All I knew was that everyone was raving about it and therefore first impressions counted for a lot. The packaging is cute and I love the frosted glass on the jar as it makes this product feel expensive (which it is) and it reminds me of the kind of products you would find at a spa.

I've been using the Nuxe lip balm for around four weeks now and I absolutely love it.  The formula is very thick so it feels nourishing on the lips and the consistency is smooth without being sticky or heavy.  As for smell, it is gorgeous. It has a beautiful citrus scent which isn't overpowering in the slightest and even though I'm not usually a big fan of citrus, I really like this.

The ingredients in Reve de Miel include a mixture of honey and precious oils which is said to nourish, repair, soothe and protect the lips.  Without doubt, this lip balm does all of those things and I can't imagine not regularly using it, particularly in the Winter.  The concentrated formula works perfectly to keep my dry lips at under control and although they weren't particularly bad before I started using this product I have definitely seen an improvement which means I can now happily wear any lipsticks I like without the worry of the them looking patchy or making my lips ever more dry.

Priced at £9.50 this lip balm is more expensive than any others I have tried and at first I wondered if it would live up to the hype and price tag but I definitely have not been left disappointed.  Needless to say, when this pot runs out I will definitely be re-purchasing it!

You can buy the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm from Space NK for £9.50 and see more products Nuxe have on offer at their website.

What do you think of this lip balm?

CODING TIPS FOR BEGINNERS - PART 1 - HTML

Coding Tips Part 1 - HTML
Hello Lovelies! Today's post is a little different from the other posts on my blog and is the beginning of what I hope to be a mini coding tips series.  If you find this post helpful and would like to see more like it please leave a comment below and let me know if you want to see more as I have many more things I would like to share with you.

Today's post is all about HTML which is hypertext markup language.  This is a computer language which is used to create pages on the internet aka a website and is made up of a number of tags which are instructions that tell your browser (e.g Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome) what to show on a web page.  I'm by no means and expert but I've dipped into the world of HTML, CSS, XHTML and other coding languages since around the age of 13 so even though I don't necessarily use it on a regular basis I do have some experience behind me which has allowed me to easily pick up the basics and apply them to my blog.  Below are some of the basic tags you can use to create and enhance your pages:

How Do I Set Up a Page

Each page on a website is made up of four main tags that have opening and closing brackets, however, many more are used in between the structure. The tags you need to start with are:

How To Add a Photo

In Blogger you can add your photo's using the 'Insert Image' tool but in the last few weeks I have been adding mine via HTML instead.  This allows me to host the pictures elsewhere (Photobucket) which I prefer because I have had problem with Blogger in the past.  You can also add a border to the image, title and size.

How to Add a Link to a Photo

If you want to add a link to your photo you just combine the two tags like below:

How To Add a Text Link

In blogger we are lucky to have the 'Link' tool but if you want to ever add links using the HTML you can use the below code. You can also add font formatting to this and an alt tag. The only text you will see is whatever you place in the 'ADD TEXT FOR LINK HERE' section.

How to Change the Colour and Format of Font

You can change the type of font, colour, definition and size easily using the below tags.  If you want to make your text bold, italic or underline put these tags around your main font tag.  You can replace the font face, colour and size as you wish too.

How to Add Headings

If you want to define certain headings on your page you can define them using the below tags.  The lower the number the bigger the heading and the higher the header is deemed to be as it has a hierarchical structure.

How to Add a Background

If you want to add a background colour or image to your page you can use the below code.  This is great to do because it adds personality to your blog and can all help to bring together a theme.  If you want to find out the specific names of colours or hex numbers Google it and loads will pop up.

RE-DISCOVERED PRODUCTS #2

Re-discovered Products Re-discovered Products Re-discovered Products Re-discovered Products

A couple of weeks ago I featured my recently re-discovered products but as there were so many I wanted to spread them over two posts.  You can read the products I included in my first one here.  I love re-discovering products because it feels like you're using something brand new and you are also reminded what you loved about the products in the first place.  Here are the products I have re-discovered over the past couple of months are below:

Lush Mint Lip Scrub // Link

The cold weather has been playing havoc with my lips so they have been a little drier than normal. To help combat this, over the past few weeks I have been using my Lush Lip Scrub in Mint which is brilliant. After using this product my lips are left feeling soft and smooth plus it tastes delicious which is an added bonus!

Rimmel Apocalips // Link

Last year when Rimmel Apocalips hit the shelves there was a huge amount of hype surrounding them. I was one of those people as I love most of the colours in the range as well as the thick pigmented formula and fresh watermelon scent.  When going through my Muji drawers a couple of weekends ago I spotted them and was reminded how lovely they are. The colours I have here are Nova, Celestial and Apocoliptic

Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer // Link

The Nivea Hydration primer is the first I have used combined with a moisturiser.  I re-discovered this product when my favourite primer, Porefessional by Benefit ran out and I was on the hunt for the last bit of my Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. Instead I came across this one and I've enjoyed using it on and off. I will probably use it every now and then until I finish it but I wouldn't re-purchase it because I do prefer using my primer and moisturiser separately. It is a great no fuss quick to use product, though.

MAC Soft and Gentle // Link

I re-discovered Soft and Gentle after seeing it spring up on a lot of blog posts recently.  It reminded me how beautiful it is and I have used it every day over the past four weeks or so.  It gives my cheeks a beautiful shimmer that looks like a natural glow rather than too in your face and I love it.

Have you tried any of these products?

SALTED CARAMEL CUPCAKE RECIPE

Salted Caramel Cupcakes Salted Caramel Cupcakes Salted Caramel Cupcakes Salted Caramel Cupcakes Salted Caramel Cupcakes Salted Caramel Cupcakes

Hello Beauties! Today's second post will be a little different from others that have appeared on my blog as it is baking related.  I have loved baking and cooking ever since I was small and used to often make things with my mum such as cupcakes, cornflake/rice krispie cakes and Christmas cakes. As I have got older I have continued to bake and cook, although as I'm so busy I often find I can't do it as often as I would like. I find baking to be really relaxing and I love how you can take  simple recipe and make it your own. You can take the same recipe and turn it into something different every time through creativity.

As Easter is approaching I have been inspired to make some Easter cupcakes which have a simple vanilla cupcake base an exciting Salted Caramel topping and a variety of pretty decorations. In the past I would have made my own topping simple using plain icing sugar, butter and vanilla essence but the lovely people at Sugar and Crumbs recently sent me some of their flavoured icing sugar (the flavours sound delicious) which I will be using with tthis receipe today.

Here are the ingredients you will need to make 12 cupcakes:

The cake:

110g | 4oz softened butter
110g | 4oz caster sugar
110g |4oz self-raising flour
2 medium eggs
1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence

The Salted Caramel Topping:

Softened Butter

The Decorations:

Oreo Biscuits
Sprinkles
White Chocolate Stars
Mini Eggs & big chocolate eggs from Marks and Spencer
Waffer Flowers (tesco)
Chocolate drops
Marshmallows
Cup cake cases

I have omitted the amount on some of the ingredient for the toppings as I find this is down to personal taste. Personally, I never weigh these out as I just add more as necessary. The above ingredients can be adapted to make more cupcakes or a whole cake.

Method:

1. Preheat the oven to 180C | 350F | Gas Mark 4.
2. Grease and flour 12 cupcake cases
3. Cream the butter and sugar together until the texture is fluffy and the colour has lightened
4. Mix the eggs together in a separate bowl and beat the eggs into the mixture a little at a time. Tip: Add a little flour to stop the mixture from splitting.
5. Fold in the flour and vanilla essence
6. Fill the mixture into the cupcake cases, around two-thirds in each. Tip: Heat a spoon in boiling water and the mixture will slide off)
7. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Tip: Insert a skewer or fork and if it comes out clean the cakes are ready.
8. Leave to cool on a wire rack
9. Mix the butter and icing into a paste
10. Pipe onto each cake
11. Decorate

It has been so nice to do some baking again and I really love the idea of using natural flavoured icing sugar as it really speeds up the process of making interesting cake toppings. The salted caramel one smells and tastes absolutely delicious! It isn't overpowering at all so it compliments the cake perfectly.

I can't wait to use some the others, especially the black cherry and chocolate.. yum! If you want to buy flavoured icing sugar you can order it from the Sugar and Crumbs website. There is a massive 23 flavours to choose from! Delivery is super quick and the prices range from £1.99 - £2.99. You need at least two packets of icing sugar for the above recipe to make a generous amount of frosting.

What do you think of my Salted Caramel cupcakes?

THING'S I WISH I'D KNOWN ABOUT BLOGGING - PART 3

Things I Wish I'd Known About Blogging Part 3

Hello Lovelies, I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. If you are a regular reader of my blog you may have seen the first two posts in my 'Things I Wish I'd Known About Blogging' series (Part 1 & Part 2).  Today's post is a continuation of the first two and hopefully you guys will find it useful.

Using the Post Template

In the last couple of weeks I discovered the post template area in Blogger which allows you to insert code or text that will automatically appear in every new post you have.  It's really handy if you are going to have the same signature for a period of time on your blog and is an essential if using Google Analytics.  To use this function go to the main blogger menu in the left hand side bar > Settings > Posts and Comments > Post Template.

Blog Lovin'

Blog Lovin' is a brilliant service that allows you to follow your favourite blogs and see their latest posts.  I personally find this much easier to use than the Blogger Reading pane as it loads quicker and the posts are much clearer. There is also a phone app you can use too! I was a little late on the bandwagon when joining Blog Lovin' like all the social media services available to Blogger and it really is something I wish I had started using when I had first started blogging rather than several months later.

Blog Hops

Occasionally I come across blog hops which are a really great way to find new blogs as well as advertising your own.  They are really simple to use and are usually hosted on another bloggers website with a link widget that allows you to leave your link and picture. I am thinking about introducing a blog hop here sometime soon so if you are interested watch this space.

Blogger Phone App

I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced a problem accessing the Blogger website on their phone or tablet but for me it never lets me edit or schedule posts which is pretty frustrating.  In the past it has caused me problems because I usually schedule a post to go live first thing in the morning so I can proof read it one last time, however, I find it impossible to correct any mistakes via the Blogger website. There is a solution for this.  Around six months ago or possibly longer I discovered the Blogger phone app which works perfectly for editing posts and adding basic formatting such as bold and italic to text.  Personally I don't think it does enough to write out a full blog post as you can't add links very well or align photo's but for simple proof reading it couldn't be more perfect.

Changing fonts, Colours and Layout Width

If you want to change the fonts, background, template or layout widths you can do it really simply by going to the main Blogger menu in the left side bar and selecting template > customise.  You don't have to have any knowledge of HTML or CSS (I will be doing blog posts on these soon) to use this area so it is really great to use whether you are a beginner or an expert.  If you are more confident with coding, however, you can use the 'advanced' section to add CSS.

What do you think of this post? Was it useful?
