:: Oyster Pink Nails ::

 :: Oyster Pink Nails ::

The only No 7 Nail Polish I have is no 120 Oyster (no 14 on the Boots website priced at £5.50) from the Stay Perfect range. As this colour is so beautiful I wondered why I hadn't worn it for so long so I gave it a go...

The colour of this varnish is gorgeous.  It's a natural/nude/shimmery pink colour (unfortunately the pink isn't showing up much on the photo's... this polish has much more of a pink tone to it than a brown).  I love neutral colours like this because they go with so many outfits.  It means you don't have to worry about your nails clashing or specifically choosing an outfit that will go with your polish every day.

The consistency of this polish is nice, not too thick or thin. It is also quick drying and has a glossy finish.

In the evening I applied base cost, two layers of the oyster pink and top coat but unfortunately, by the end of the next day most of my nails were chipped. This reminded me why I hadn't worn this polish for some time!

It's such a shame this nail varnish chips so easily as I really love the colour, I won't be using it again.  I hate filling in the gaps where there are chips because it never looks right and I'm also not a fan of having the strip your nails everyday and reapplying.

I haven't tried any other No7 varnishes so I don't know if this issue applies to all of them.

Has anyone else tried these polishes?

:: Midnight Blue Nails ::

:: Midnight Blue Nails ::

A couple of months ago I purchased a Barry M nail varnish in colour no. 328 Magnetic Blue.  I'm not entirely sure what made me pick this particular shade as I am usually more drawn towards pinks and purples but this midnight blue with silver undertones is gorgeous.

I am a big fan of Barry M nail varnish and this one us no exception. The thickness of the varnish is perfect, the application is easy and I have found it will stay on your nails chip free for 1-1.5 weeks when using base and top coat (i'll add another post sometime about the ones I use).

Overall I'm really glad I tried out this colour and can definitely see myself wearing it a lot over the winter months.

What do you think of Barry M nail varnish?

Raspberry Blush Nails

:: Raspberry Blush Nails ::

The nail varnish I am reviewing today is no.402 Urban Purple in the Rimmel Lycra Pro Professional Finish range priced at £4.59 at Boots in the UK.

I'm really into these dark autumn colours now the nights are getting dark and we're leading up to Christmas and this is definitely a favourite of mine.  The shade I would describe as being deep raspberry rather than purple like the name suggests.

The formulation of this nail varnish is perfect for me.  It isn't too thin so you don't need to apply more than two coats to get great coverage but it also isn't so thick that it ends up just peeling off your nails. The brush is also great. It is the maxi brush which means it is wide and designed with a anti-fade colour system. It makes for easy, smooth and quick application.

Since buying this nail varnish I've used it on several different occasions and have found the results to be consistent every time. Although, one negative point is that I do find it chips pretty easily, even with a generous helping of top coat.  As the packaging claims it would last up to ten days and is 'long lasting, chip resistant and anti-fade', I would have expected a lot  more  from this product. Within 24 hours I had several chips which was very disappointing and has put me off using this polish for certain occasions.
