Review | 6 Must Have Spring Products From the High Street

6 Must Have Spring Products From The Highstreet

I recently wrote a blog post featuring my 6 must have high end Spring products and you guessed it, now it's time to share my 6 must have high street/drug store products with you. This was very challenging because there are so many amazing products out there but eventually I managed to narrow it down, although three are lip products!

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in #101 | Link  | £3.99

6 Must Have Spring Products From The Highstreet

Rimmel is a popular high street brand and I think one of their best products are their lipsticks. My favourite is 101 from the Kate Moss range because it's a pretty matte 'your lips but better' shade that looks lovely during the day to finish a natural make-up look or when teamed with a smokey eye in the evening. I find it a little drying so I always wear lip balm underneath and I re-apply it as little as possible. It's a really pretty shade to wear during Spring and Summer.

Collection Lip Gloss in Cupcake | Link | £2.19

6 Must Have Spring Products From The Highstreet

Collection probably one of the first make-up brands I bought from when I was younger and now I find myself going back to try more and more of their products. One which recently appeared in my favourites is this pretty baby pink lip gloss in the shade Cupcake. It has a shimmer running through it which looks lovely and also makes your lips look a little plumper. The texture is very light but is a little on the thin side so it comes out of the tube very quickly. This means you need to be careful when applying it because you can end up with too much on your lips but the shade works really well on it's own or when paired with lipsticks. This is the perfect shade for Spring!

Sleek Blush in Pixie Pink | Link | £4.49

6 Must Have Spring Products From The Highstreet

Sleek is an amazing brand when it comes to blush and is definitely my favourites on the high street. The blush pictured here is a bright pink called Pixie Pink which is very pigmented so apply with caution if you don't want to end up looking like a clown. I would definitely recommend tapping of the excess and making sure you have time to blend it out properly.

This isn't a quick blush to apply but it is beautiful and gives your cheeks a gorgeous pop of colour. Lots of other shades are available too and they are definitely worth a look because the formula is smooth, creamy and blends easily over the skin making this product easy to work with and perfect to wear during Spring.

Soap and Glory Solar Powder Bronzer | Link | £11.00

6 Must Have Spring Products From The Highstreet

You can tell this product is well loved because I have it pan on it. I find Soap and Glory Solar Powder a great alternative to Nars Laguna and it has been been the one I have been reaching for over the past few weeks.

The finish is matte which is perfect because I prefer to have my shimmer in a highlighter or eyeshadow and the soft, creamy texture is very blendable so you're never left with streaky marks. The shade is also great to use if you have a pale complexion because you're not left looking orange! You skin is given a beautiful sunkissed glow which is perfect for Spring when you want to add a little extra colour to your face.

I'm not sure why the lighter shade has hit pan where the darker hasn't because I always swirl the two shades together before application, I assume maybe it is a softer formula so more picks up on the brush.

Revlon Lip Butter | Link | £5.99

6 Must Have Spring Products From The Highstreet

The Revlon Lip Butters were a really popular product with beauty bloggers last year and I can definitely see why. The formula is so creamy it melts onto the lips making them extremely hydrating and comfortable to wear. A beautiful range of shades are available and the one pictured here is a pretty shimmery baby pink named Cotton Candy. This is a similar shade to the other lip products which is definitely my 'go to' colour for Spring.

The formula of the lip butters is a hybrid between a lipstick and lip balm and some are sheerer than others so definitely give them a swatch before you buy. Cotton Candy is more on the sheer side.

As you can see, I hardly have any left and I would love to tell you it's because I've been wearing it so much I've used it all up but sadly that isn't the case. Instead, I had a bit of a disaster with the lipstick after leaving it in my handbag on the floor with the underfloor heating on......

MUA Undressed Eyeshadow Palette | Link |£4.00

6 Must Have Spring Products From The Highstreet

If I'm honest when I first saw MUA in Superdrug I was a little sceptical about the products because of the low price tag but I saw so many people raving about their eyeshadow palettes I decided to give one a try. I bought the Undressed palette because the shades are all very wearable and perfect to create an evening or day time look all year round. They are also very similar to those in the Urban Decay Naked 1 palette but considerably cheaper! See my comparison post here.

I was surprised by the quality of the shadows for the price and I actually find them easier to work with than some MAC ones because they seem to blend better. It's a brilliant palette for the price.

MUA Cream Blush in Bittersweet Review

MUA Cream Blush in Bittersweet

MUA Cream Blush in Bittersweet

MUA Cream Blush in Bittersweet

Truth be told although I do like cream blush I don't tend to use it very often.  I have no idea why this is but for some reason they just aren't part of my go to products.  Despite this, a cream blush I am very fond of when I do decide to use one is MUA Bittersweet.

The cream MUA blushers are packaged very similarly to the powder ones so sport the same simple black and transparent casing which although isn't particularly sturdy is good for viewing the product without having to look at the name or opening the palette.

I was first drawn to Bittersweet because of the colour. The cream blush is a gorgeous bright blue toned 'Barbie' pink which at first glance looks like a scary shade in the pan but when you actually use it can be blended out to give you a nice pop of colour.  The formulation is soft and silky but slightly oily so will be better for people who have dry or combination skin.  I have the latter and find that once applied this blush gives my skin a gorgeous dewy finish which brightens up my face.  I find the staying power of this blush good too as I can wear it for several hours without it fading or moving although it does last longer if I set it with a powder blush or translucent powder.

Priced at only £2.00 MUA Bittersweet is an absolute bargain and well worth the money.  You can buy it from Superdrug.

MUA Powder Blush Review // Shades 1, 2 and 4

MUA blushers

MUA is an amazing high street brand and I still find it hard to believe how cheap their products are.  Admittedly, when I first bought their products I was a little sceptical because I thought maybe quality had been compromised because of the low prices but this isn't the case at all.  So far every product I have bought from MUA I have been impressed with, particularly their powder based products such as their eyeshadow's and blushers.

The three MUA powder blushes I have in my collection are shades 1, 2 and 4.  It's a shame they don't have proper names because it is much easier to remember what ones you have and also adds a bit of fun to a product but I guess what really matters is the product itself.  All three of these blushers are well pigmented and give a beautiful, natural flush of colour on the cheeks.  Although the pigmentation is good, it isn't so overpowering that you find yourself getting into a mess by having too much on your brush so these blushers are perfect for people who want a no fuss blusher or are new to makeup.

The consistency of the MUA blushers are also impressive.  They blend extremely well so are brilliant to work with and you get a huge amount of product in the pan so they last ages. The powder is soft and doesn't leave a chalky finish on the skin.  I also find them long lasting although I have combination skin and my cheeks are on the normal-dry side so I never struggle keeping my blusher in place.

Let's talk a little more about each shade:

Shade 1

This is a pretty pale (ish) baby pink which suits pale - medium tones skin.  It has a very subtle shimmer running throughout it which looks gorgeous and brightens up the skin without being too much.  This is the perfect summer shade but I wear it all round.

Shade 2

I find shade 2 to be a more natural dusty rose colour and a very easy shade to wear for lots of skin tones.  I particularly like wearing this shade throughout Autumn because of the slight plum tones and the subtle shimmer helps to make the skin look refreshed and healthy.

Shade 4

Shade 4 is a pretty peach which will suit a large amount of skin tones.  This is the most pigmented blush out of the three and is a simple, easy to wear shade.  Again, this blusher has a very slight shimmer which gives the cheeks a subtle glow but it isn't too much as the flecks are very small.  This is a great all year round blusher.

The only thing about the MUA blushers that I'm not so keen on is the basic packaging because it isn't particularly 'pretty' to look at and doesn't seem too sturdy either.  I also struggle to open them using the catch at the front so instead I pop my nail underneath the corner (pray it doesn't break) and the lid easily prises open.  Despite this, I love these blushers and will continue to use and buy them.  They are brilliant value for money priced at only £1 each so who really cares about the packaging.. it's what's inside that counts!

You can pick up MUA blushers from superdrug.

Autumn Lip Products

Autumn Lip Colours

Autumn Lip Colours

Autumn Lip Colours

Autumn Lip Colours MUA, MAC, MUA, REVLON, SOAP AND GLORY

Autumn is here and it is the perfect time of year to start wearing those gorgeous berry and red shades.  Here are some of my favourites:

MUA Lipstick in Shade 6

Priced at only £1 MUA lipsticks are amazing value for money and are available in a variety of colours.  Shade 6 has beautiful deep red/berry tones lwith very subtle gold flecks.

MAC Lipstick in Rebel

Rebel has been a favourite of mine for around a year now.  It's a gorgeous deep pink berry shade and is perfect to wear on dark evenings to brighten up any look.

MUA Lipstick in Shade 1

MUA Shade 1 is very similar to shade 6 but feels a little heavier, has a slightly darker, richer tone and a more matte finish. There is still a slight shimmer there but not so much making the colour a little more intense.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush

Crush is a deep purple/pink balm/stain which gives a pretty sheen to the lips.  This Kissable Balm Stain lasts on my lips for hours even after eating and drinking although the colour does fade.  The best way to wear this is to apply a little and press your lips together as if you use too much I have found it can go patchy after a while.

Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Plum Jam

Plum Jam is a combination between a gloss and a balm.  The finish is sheer so is perfect for people who don't like a bold lip or are new to wearing berry and red tones.  The colour is buildable too so if you want a little more colour you can get it but it will never be as strong as the lipsticks mentioned above.  Plum Jam is also very moisturising on the lips and looks great both on it's own and over other lip products.

Which is your favourite?

MUA Undressed Palette vs Naked Palette Review

MUA Undressed Palette vs Naked Palette

Hello Beauty Lovers!

I did a haul post last week which included the MUA Undressed Palette and I had a lot of requests to do a review. I wouldn't usually do a review as quickly as this but I find eyeshadow is a product you can easily tell if you like or not as you don't need to wait a period of time to see the results etc.  I have used this palette every day since I bought it so I've given it a pretty good trial.  As promised here is a review on the MUA Undressed palette as well as a comparison to the original Naked palette.

The MUA palette comes in a compact, black, plastic case.  The size is really nice because it isn't bulky at all so it is perfect to pop into your handbag/makeup bag if you need to.  It also comes with a standard two ended foam brush.  I'm not a fan of these brushes so I haven't tried it, instead I have used my Sigma brushes to apply the shadows.

The selection of colours in the Undressed palette is great.  You get twelve shades which are pigmented really well (except when you swatch!).  The majority are shimmery shades but there are also two matte shades which are really nice to use for a natural day time look.  I've used them a lot in the past week.  It is disappointing that the shades don't have names, though.

I love that this palette has everything you need.. a lid colour, crease and outer colour and lastly a highlighter so you have everything in one place.  The price is also brilliant, only £4.00 at Superdrug and it is definitely worth every penny!

The MUA Undressed palette is a high quality product and can definitely be compared to the Naked palette, which is a high end eyeshadow palette priced at around the £36 mark (I purchased mine from the Debenhams website).

The Original Naked palette is very popular and is well known in the blogosphere.  This palette also comes with a brush, which although I haven't used yet I will in the future.  It is a gorgeous flat brush with soft bristles, perfect for packing colour onto your eyelids.  When I bought this palette it also came with a miniature Urban Decay Priming Potion (This product is amazing, check out my review here).

The Naked Palette also contains twelve shades.  Again, most of these are shimmery but there are two matte shades.  There is also a mirror in the lid which is always a nice touch.

As you can see from the above pictures the colour of the shadows in both of these palettes are very similar. The Naked shadows are a little more pigmented and some of the colours are slightly different but overall the MUA Undressed palette is a pretty good dupe!

As you can see from these swatches, you can easily match up the colours between the two palettes and there aren't that many major differences.  I think some people would probably struggle to even identify which swatches were from which palette.  Unfortunately, some of the colours didn't swatch very well, these were the lighter shades and also the matte shades but when you apply them to your eyes this isn't a problem at all.

The closer swatches on my finger tips really show the pigmentation of these shadows and how beautiful they are.  All of the colours from both palettes are gorgeous and very wearable for both a day time and evening look.

When combining the shadows from either of these palettes with the Urban Decay priming potion I mentioned earlier, they will stay on all day perfectly without creasing or fading.

I'm a big fan of both of these palettes and at only £4.00 the MUA palette offers unbelievable value for money and in my opinion is a great dupe for the Naked Palette.

Do you have either of these palettes? What do you think?
