Event | Stila Spring 2015 Product Launch in London

Stila Makeup Launch

Hello Beauties, last week I was lucky enough to be invited to the most recent Stila product launch which was held in Selfridges, London so I thought I would share my experience with you.

This was a low key event which was set in the middle of the Selfridges Beauty Hall so was a little different to any others I have been to. When I approached the counter the beauty team were very friendly and I was shown a mixture of old and new products plus told a little about each of them which was really interesting. I've liked Stila makeup for quite some time now but it is still a relatively new brand for me so it was really great to hear more about it.

As well as learning more about the products I also had a mini make-over using some of them so I could see them in action. They used well known products such as the stunning multiples which can be used on both the cheeks and lips (this is also a favourite with Cameron Diaz) as well as the one step primer/colour corrector/highlighter which is really lovely combined with the new additions for Spring 2015. These are:

Stila Shape and Shade Custom Contour Duo | £33.00

This duo is available in three different shades, light, medium and deep and is a sheer, long-wearing cream to matte formula which blends beautifully over the skin. Combined with the brand new contour brush by Stila you can easily apply the product exactly where you need it and blend it out for a natural finish. Unlike contour brushes I have seen in the past, this double ended one has more compact bristles so you can be very exact where you are placing the product and rather than gliding it over the skin you simply push it into place.

Stila Stay All Day Brow Gel | £28.00

Next is a tinted brow gel which is part of the Stay All Day range. This brow well is available in five different shades but blends out beautifully so it's very forgiving if you don't use the correct shade. Even the palest blonde haired people can get away with the dark brown if they have to which is what I love about this product. It's easy to use, gives a natural finish and aims to stay in place all day, what more could you want?

As well as the brow gel, included with this product is a wonderful double ended brush which can be used to brush the brows and apply powder product or from the brow pencil (another new addition to the Stay All Day range).

Stila Nude Interlude Color Balm Lipstick, lip brush and primer | £16.00

Last but not least is an additional three shades to the best-selling ultra creamy, hydrating, colour balm lipstick range. These lip products are infused with conditioning emollients and cooling peppermint oil so it delivers the moisture of a lip balm as well as the full pigmentation of a lipstick.

Additionally, Stila are introducing a beautiful lip brush that has flat bristles to help you achieve a flawless finish and a primer which pumps, soothes and moisturises the lips.

Stila have introduced some really lovely products to their current collection which are available from the 5th February.

What is your favourite Stila product?

Event | Hilary's

Hillary's

A few weeks ago I was invited to an event in Chelsea, London which was a product launch with Hillary's, an interior design company. I'd come across this brand before and was tempted to buy some curtains but as it was all new to me I wasn't so keen on the idea of buying online, however now that I've seen the products up close I definitely would in the future.

The event was held at a hotel in Chelsea which overlooked the harbor so was the perfect setting to showcase the wonderful interiors Hillary's had in store for us. After speaking with some of the lovely PR people and sampling some of the tasty canapes on offer we moved in a separate room where all the products were laid out. There were various units set up contains sample curtains, fabrics and cushions in a range of different colours and textures which sent my mind whirling.

Admittedly I wasn't overly bothered about homeware until I bought my own place a couple of years ago but now I can't get enough of it. At the event I immediately started picturing the different rooms in my house and thinking of how the gorgeous fabrics would work within each area. The patterns were detailed but not over the top and the quality brilliant.

Once we had a chance to look around, some members of Hillary's did a short presentation about the brand and products which gave the audience even more information to take away with them. Unfortunately, I missed this part as I had tonsillitis and headed home as I wasn't feeling well at all but I've heard it was brilliant!

If you want to take a closer look at the products Hillary's have on offer take a look at their website.

Event | Superdrug

Superdrug Event
Superdrug Event Superdrug Event

Hello Beauties! As you've probably seen I've been getting a little behind on blogging as the wedding has totally taken over my weekends and the hours I work are too long to allow me to blog in the evening. All that is about to change though because the wedding preparations are well under way and as most of the major things are sorted hopefully now I will go back to having a lot more free time!

Anyway, a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend an event with Superdrug which was amazing so I wanted to share it with you! The event was based in London and split over two huge rooms where the products were grouped by genre and displayed beautifully. The first room I entered was based on health and well being so contained products like vitamins, nutri-bars and remedies for illnesses like cold and flu. This room looked incredible and it really brought me back to nature. There were beautiful trees at the entrance and in the room where we each got to write on a leaf and place it on the tree so it slowly got bigger and bigger. The product placement was also different depending on the sections which made them really interesting to look at and I loved that one of the PR team took us around them all.

The second room looked completely different and was full of large circular structures filled with products. The walls were covered as well as the center of this room and these products were more beauty related. They included perfume, bath and skin care products as well as makeup. I spent a lot of time circulating the room and looking at each of every product and definitely discovered some new things I want to try as well as some old favourites! It was also great to see Makeup Revolution products on sale as well as a stand for Zoella beauty.

This is one of the best events I have ever been to. The product displays were fun and innovative, the PR girls friendly as always and the range of products incredible! I had a great time finding out more about them, watching the demonstration and taking part in the Superdrug swap shop (there will be a post coming up on this soon too!).

Event | Lush Christmas Product Launch

Lush event
Lush event Lush event Lush event Lush event

Hello Beauties! As mentioned in yesterday's blog post I was lucky enough to attend the launch of the gorgeous Lush Christmas products in London yesterday.. and I must say it definitely wasn't a let down!

Before arriving at the Lush store on Regent's Street I met up with my friends Rachel and Zoe who are also bloggers and went for a shopping trip and pamper at Selfridges where I bought far too many beautiful things! It was really lovely to have a catch up as I haven't seen either of them for a while so we had lots to talk about!

When we arrived at Lush it was already full of people who were excitedly looking at the products Lush had on offer and after getting some drinks we did the same. It was great to spot some old favourite's such as Snow Fairy Shower Gel (yum!), the creamy and nourishing soap Snowcake and pretty bath bomb Lush Christmas Pud as well as some super exciting newbie products too. I loved the look and smell of the Snow Angel bath melt, was intrigued by the Snowman Jelly and my heart melted at the sight of the cute Christmas penguin. I'm pretty sure I still have one of those from last year as I couldn't bring myself to put him in the bath! haha Of course there were also lots of products also sporting glitter to get people into the festive spirit!

As always the Lush gift sets looked stunning and would definitely look amazing under the Christmas tree. The packaging is so fun and innovative that it would impress your friends and family before they even open it to see what wonderful treats are hidden within. This year Lush have also introduced an incredible advent calendar which priced at £50 is a little on the high side but I think it's worth it. The products in it are gorgeous and what better way to wake up in the lead up to Christmas than with an exciting Lush treat?! I'm very, very tempted to get one!

There were a LOT of amazing products available but if I was to pick a few of the stand out ones they would be:

- Advent Calendar
- Rose Jam and Snow Fairy Shower Gel
- Snow Angel Bath Melt
- Snowman Jelly
- Golden Wonder Bath Bomb
- Christmas Pud Bath Bomb

I'll stop there.. but I could easily name more! haha

I always love the events Lush host because the atmosphere is so fun and relaxed. Without doubt I always discover new products too that aren't event part of the range that are being promoted and coming away being more knowledgeable about the brand and the products they offer. Needless to say I had a wonderful evening and now have a Lush wish list even longer than yesterday's!

Event | W7 Christmas Product Launch

W7 Event
W7 Event

Today's post is about a brand called W7 which I discovered when I first started blogging and have loved ever since. They have an amazing range of cosmetics and skin care that are often dupes for popular high end brands but offered at much more affordable prices.

When I was offered the chance to attend the launch of their Christmas range at the top London hotel Cafe Royal last week I couldn't wait and knew there was going to be an exciting assortment of products in store.

I attended the event with the lovely Rachel at Beauty Queen UK and when we arrived we were in for a real treat. We were greeted by the friendly PR girls who spoke about the products in detail and showed us around each of the displays. The range of products was huge and included skin care, make-up, nail polish and hair dye so there was a real mix and plenty to look at.

We started looking at the new skin care range first which included:

- Dream Clean Cleanser (£3.95) - This cleanser has a beautiful light scent that has a hint of lavender.
- Wakey Wakey Day Dream Cream (£3.95) - This cream has a lighty balmy, gel light texture so it absorbs extremely quickly into the skin.
- Nighty Night Dream Cream (£3.95) - The night cream is slightly thicker but has the same refreshing texture that absorbs quickly and leaves the skin soft
- Love Your Hands (£3.95) - A citrus hand cream that leaves your hands feeling re-freshed and soft.
- Eye Love It (£3.95) - This eye cream has a very light texture so it absorbs quickly and doesn't feel wet on the skin.

The packaging of all five were bright pink, funky and fun giving the products a really youthful feel, matching the relaxed names perfectly. We got to have a play around with them so got to feel the textures and they seemed very different from any skin care products I have tried before. I'm looking forward to giving these products a proper try.. watch this space for detailed reviews on each!

Next we headed over to one of the most exciting products being released and that is the Christmas advent calendar. I really love the concept of these but in the past have been put of by the high price tags as I'd rather buy 1-2 products I really want rather than splashing out £70+ on a calendar of samples I may not use. Priced at only £12 the W7 version of brilliant value for money so would make a lovely gift for family and friends or simply to enjoy yourself! The design is super festive and even folds in half so they are easy to store.

After gushing over the W7 advent calendar we headed over to a large table fully lined the products for us to discover. This included eyelashes, mascaras, bronzer, lip products and more but the stand out products for me were definitely from the chubby collection. I loved the look of the Chubby Bronzer, Blush and Lips and will definitely be purchasing them at some point!

Last but not least we had a play around with a multitude of nail polishes which was both fun and relaxing. It was great to be able to experiment with a variety of shades and now my wish list is as long as my arm!

You can view the full range of W7 products at their website here and purchase them online at Fragrance Direct as well as other stores (see the list on their website).

Event | GOSH AW Collection

GOSH AW Collection
GOSH AW Collection

Last week I was lucky enough to attend the launch of the GOSH Autumn Winter collection in London. The venue was a large room in a hotel that was the perfect setting as there was lots of space to view the products and features such as a huge stained glass window which made a beautiful back drop.

I attended the event with Rachel from Beauty Queen UK and on arrival we were greeted by the lovely PR girls who as always were very welcoming. After selecting one of the delicious drinks (lychee lemonade) and sampling the pretty canapes we headed straight over to the makeup stands displaying the gorgeous new AW collection.

Eyeshadow Palettes

The first stand we looked at had three beautiful palettes that each had nine shades in them. All of them looked beautiful and sported a large range of colours so there is something for everyone whether your a fan of brights (To Play With in Vegas palette), blue tones (To Have Fun With in LA palette) or neutrals (To Enjoy in New York). My favourite palette is the New York palette and is the one pictured above. It's very pretty! The shades are super pigmented, there is a good variety of shades and the sleek palette shows them off perfectly.

Velvet Touch Lipsticks

Next we had a look at the pretty lipsticks on offer, eight to be precise and swatched our favourites. I loved the look of the two pictured above, two pretty pink shades that were very pigmented. I've used GOSH lipsticks before and really liked them so it's great to see more have been added to the collection!

Giant Blush

The blushes are a product that really excited me when I saw them and are a favourite of mine along with the New York Eyeshadow palette. I love the concept of these blushes because they are super easy to use on the go as they can be applied without a brush and are also multiple purpose. All three shades are beautiful and easy to wear.. I look forward to trying them!

Mascara and Brow Gel

Other products we looked at included an eye brow gel that is available in three shades and two mascara's.  The first, the Crazy Volume Mascara is in funky bright pink packaging and is said to give lashes a major volume boost that lasts for hours whereas the second, Double Precision Mascara, is two ended in order to add precise definition and volume.

Mineralise Powder and Brush

Last but not least we looked at the Mineralise Powder and Brush which looked lovely. Four different shades are available and the product aims to provide luminous flawless skin with medium to full coverage. I'm excited to try this product because I've never tried one like it, it's also paraben and perfume free.

Once we had a look at all the products we were treated to a manicure (which after seven days still looked flawless) and also a make over using the new products in the collection. It was really great to try out the products and ask the makeup artist more about them. I really loved the finished look  and can't wait to try them out for myself! The New York palette and blushes were definitely the stand out products for me from this collection!

The GOSH AW collection is now available in Superdrug stores and definitely worth a look as the products are beautiful! The website is here.

Event | Pandora Essence Zodiac Product Launch

Pandora Essence Zodiac Product Launch

Hello Everyone, how are you all? Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to an event at Pandora's flagship store in London to celebrate the launch of their brand new product range, the Essence Zodiac collection. I don't often go to events on my own anymore as after being a blogger for nearly two years there is always normally someone there I know or I go with one of my best blogging friends Rachel from Beauty Queen UK so I was a little nervous.

The event was first thing in the morning which was nice because I could go having my hair and make-up freshly done rather than looking a little tired after work and as you can imagine I was very excited on my way there. As soon as I stepped inside the store my nerves completely disappeared as the PR girls and staff are so friendly and welcoming they really made me feel at home. I was shown the different areas of the store that had been done up especially for the event and after choosing a drink I headed straight over to the new collection because I couldn't resist not looking at it first.

Pandora Essence Zodiac Product Launch Pandora Essence Zodiac Product Launch
*A grey fabric bracelet from the range and the Scorpion charm which is my star sign

There are two parts to the Essence Zodiac collection, the first being orientated around star signs and the second around elements such as health, hope and love. Pictured above are products from both and equally are as beautiful.

There are a selection of new bracelets from the range which include the fabric bracelets in either one strand like the one above or two and a selection of silver bracelets, all of which show of the new charms perfectly. Moving onto the charms themselves, each and every one of them is beautiful and very wearable.  The charms for the star signs are all made of silver and have a very delicate outline of the sign engraved into them with cubic zirconia carefully placed inside.

The second part of the collection are the 'Essence' silver charms which include elements such as Joy, Stability, Passion and Respect. These charms vary more than the star signs and all look very beautiful. Some are colourful whereas others are purely silver but I can see all of them being very popular. As I was looking at the display I was definitely designing a bracelet in my head using these charms!

After I drooled over the new Essence Zodiac collection for quite some time and spoke with the PR girls I had a look at the Zodiac inspired activities that had been specially selected for the event. The first was a fortune teller who after asking some brief details about you such as where you were born, your birthday and time of birth pulled up a graph on his computer and began telling you interesting facts about yourself as well as some things about what the future holds. I've always been a bit wary of these types of things in the past because of the fear of being told something awful but without really thinking twice I headed over and took part in this interesting new experience. The fortune teller said a little about the person I am such as I'm close to my family, my family do everything they possibly can for me and that I'm not very independent before moving on to telling me more about my future. I was told that 2017 will be my year and there will be an awful lot in store. I will get married and have a very loving husband and have a fun, easy going, stable life and also my career will head to the next level and I will be a boss and very successful. It was freaky how right he was about some things about me so I will be interested to see what happens in 2017 and if any of the fortune tellers predictions come true.. lets see!

After speaking a little more to people sadly it was time for me to go as I had to head to work so I didn't have time to look at the remaining activities which involved some strategically placed screens in the store. They sounded really fun so I was disappointed but I had an incredible time at the event and it was the perfect start to my morning. Not only did I get to meet some lovely people and view the beautiful collection but I also learnt more about Zodiacs such as that I actually have three star signs, Scorpio (General), Taurus (Mind), Gemini (Soul).. I think that's right!

I would definitely recommend taking a look at the new Pandora range as it is beautiful and would make the perfect gift for loved ones as you can make a bracelet or select a charm which is very personal to them. You can take a look at the Essence Zodiac collection on the Pandora website here or the Pandora e-store here. Pandora also have other beautiful silver charms that are available so they definitely cater for everyone.

Review | Haircut at Michael Van Clarke London Salon

Born Pretty Store Phone Cases

Hello Everyone! A couple of weeks ago you may have seen my blog post about the Michael Van Clarke event I attended in London where I found out a lot more about hair care, the industry and Michael's 3 More Inches products. I was lucky enough to make a return visit last week to have a *haircut which was amazing because at the event I had a hair consultation with Michael which made me feel really confident about what needed to be done.

When I arrived at the salon I was greeted by one of the lovely girls on the reception and given a gown to protect my clothes as well as a drink. It wasn't long until my hairdresser Lina popped over to say hello. She took me to one of the stations where we spoke a little about the notes Michael had made from the consultation, what I was looking for from a hair cut and her opinion on my hair.

I was a little nervous when I first arrived at the salon because I've had bad experiences at hairdressers in the past but I was soon put at ease and really felt that Lina listened and took into account what I wanted which made me feel much more comfortable. I love my long hair so I didn't want to lose too much length but at the same time was aware my hair was looking a little dry and worse for ware at the ends so something definitely needed to be done to rectify it. We agreed to only take off around an inch, to add long layers to add more shape and dimensions to my hair (my others had grown out and hadn't been cut in properly) and to remove as many split ends as possible.

Following this chat I was guided over to the basins where I sat in a massage chair and relaxed while my hair was washed with the 3 More Inches products. The products made my hair feel fresh and clean and also had a lovely subtle scent. Next I was guided back to the hair station where Lina blow dried my hair and took another look at it now that it was freshly washed. I love that she took time to look at my hair rather than just jumping in to get the cut over with straight away. She took a lot of care and attention and made sure I would leave with healthier hair and I style I would love.

At Michael Van Clarke they use the diamond cut technique which takes into account how the hair falls and the shape of the head. The hair is also cut dry so the hairdresser can see how it moves and falls so knows exactly how and where to cut in order to achieve the perfect style. It made me feel much happier having my hair cut dry as in the past hairdressers have ignored my request to remove as little as possible and have cut off 5 inches or so of my hair meaning that when it is dried (it is naturally curly) it shoots up and is too short for my liking.

In total I was at Michael Van Clarke for around two hours and I really enjoyed the experience. The salon had a really comfortable feel, the staff were very friendly and made you feel at ease and it was clear they were passionate about hair and very knowledgable. I asked lots of questions so I could understand what Lina was doing and how I can improve my hair care routine. For example, to only dry my hair until it is damp rather than until it is bone dry like I do at the moment and to stop using my straighteners As I have heat damage.

My final style wasn't hugely different to what I already had which was perfect because I didn't want a dramatic change.  At the same time, it was obvious how much healthier my hair looked and diamond cut and products added an extra dimension and bounce to my hair as it fell much more naturally than it did before. Since having the cut loads of people have commented on my hair whether it has been straight (ish.. with no straighteners) or curly and some have even said it's the best cut I've ever had.  Without doubt I will be going back!

As I have some heat damage to my hair I will be making a real effort to try and use my styling tools less and so far it's going well.  Instead of reaching for my straighteners every day out of convenience I now blow dry my hair with a round brush which although takes longer it gives my hair a pretty texture and curl I actually prefer and my hair still looks smooth. The only reason why I really used my straighteners so much was to reduce the frizz but now I can achieve that without them it's much better for my hair. I'm not saying I will never use them but I attend to only use heated styling tools on my hair 1-2 a week maximum if possible which should really help to improve the condition of my hair. The products in the 3 More Inches range also have been working really well and leave my hair soft and smooth without the use of any sillicones!

Overall I really enjoyed my experience at the Michael Van Clarke Salon and I can definitely see a positive difference in my hair. I'm looking forward to going back and love the extra volume and bounce my hair has!

What do you think of my experience at Michael Van Clarke?

Event | Michael Van Clarke

Michael Van Clarke Michael Van Clarke Michael Van Clarke

Last week I attended an event at the Michael Van Clarke hair salon in London which was amazing because not only did we get to hear more about the products but also a short history into hair care and the use of sillicones in products.

On arrival we were greeted by the lovely receptionist and were able to wonder around the salon while we were waiting for more people to arrive. The set up is really great. The salon has a fresh, clean and comfortable feel and is split into four different areas. The first being the reception and the other three for hair styling.

It wasn't long and the remaining people arrived and the champers began to flow. This was an exclusive event so there was only a handful of us but I liked that because it gave us a chance to interact with people and we had plenty of opportunities to speak with Michael himself and ask questions.

The event begun with a presentation by Michael which I really enjoyed because it was obvious how passionate he is about the hair care industry and his products. He told us how the first products were created such as the Frizz Ease brand by John Freida and educated us all more about the ingredients inside the majority of hair products we use every day, in particular the use of sillicone.

I found this really interesting as it was great for someone to actually explain the structure of our hair strands (97% protein and 3% water) and make us understand how products can affect them. I'm not going to go into a huge amount of detail now as I want to write up a separate blog post about this as it was extremely informative and helpful but in summary sillicones are in a huge amount of products whether they are shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, serums, oils etc and although they do improve the appearance of the hair they don't actually do anything to protect or repair it. This is where there is a fine line in the hair care industry.. although everything falls under 'hair care' not everything does actually care for the hair and instead is purely aimed at improving the appearance. Watch this space for more information on why this is etc

Michael also spoke about his 3 More Inches range which includes shampoo, conditioner, treatments, hairspray, mousse, tools and more. Each product took years to perfect and was created from the perspective of what professional stylists look for when working on clients hair and what the clients themselves look for in a product. The products don't contain chemical nasties and aims to add a natural bounce and volume to the hair by ensuring it does not get dried out as well as prevent the structure of each strand of hair getting more damaged. This means, after long term use your hair should be the same thickness all the way down and be far healthier.

After hearing about all the products we were lucky enough to have a hair consultation with Michael which was a great experience. In the past I have asked hairdressers about the condition of my hair because I've always been concerned due to the amount of heat I use on it and lack of hair cuts but have never really got a very confident answer because their knowledge wasn't quite as good. Michael however, spoke confidently with each person and for me, described a possible new style which isn't drastically different to what I have now but would make my hair more bouncy and fall more naturally. It was also very re-assuring to hear he though my hair looked nice and was in pretty good condition! Phew!

I had an amazing time at the event and definitely learnt a lot! I'm actually going back to the salon on Thursday to have my hair cut into the style Michael described.

If you want to try any products from the Michael Van Clarke range or visit the salon take a look the their website here. I will also be featuring in depth reviews of the products on my blog so watch this space if you want to find out more about them.

What do you think of this event? Have you tried anything from the 3 More Inches range?

Event | Charles Worthington Product Launch | MUST HAVE product!!

Charles Worthington Event Charles Worthington Event Charles Worthington Event

Hello Lovelies, last week I was lucky enough to be invited to an exclusive event with Charles Worthington at a lovely hotel in London. I was very excited to attend as it was a very small event and by a brand that I genuinely love and have been used for years so to be given the chance to attend the product launch and meet Charles was incredible.

I arrived shortly after the start with my best friend Emma who is also a big fan of Charles Worthington and were welcomed by the friendly PR team and hairdressers. After having a chat and a delicious Sea Breeze cocktail the pampering begun and we both had a manicure. I chose this pretty nude polish by Bourjois and teamed it with these unusual silver rose tattoo's as I wanted something neutral and loved the end result.. I'm still wearing this on my nails!

As soon as our nails were done we were taken into the main suite where Charles had a chat to us before starting a presentation about his new product. It was great he came along to the event and it was fantastic to hear him speak passionately about his product and how it what created. Charles even did a demonstration on two models so we could see this innovative new product in action which was perfect.

The new product is called the Instant Root Concealer and is a product I think will take the hair market by storm when it is released in July and will definitely be a hyped about must have product. It can be used in four ways:

- To conceal roots
- To create roots
- To conceal grey hair
- To ombre your hair

Instant Root Concealer was first created for women who dye their hair and is to be used when you get the first re-growth before you are due for your next colour to be applied. It's purpose isn't to replace dying your hair but to give you a confidence boost inbetween treatments when you may feel a little self conscience which means you can have the perfect colour all year round.

The product is a fine mist which clings to the hair and can be layered to achieve the perfect coverage but doesn't change the texture of the hair or dye it. The result is only temporary so comes out when you wash it but can be re-applied whenever you need in only a few minutes. It is very quick to do as you simply section the hair and spray the product on the hair from a distance.

Four colours are available in the range (two blonde and two brunette) but as you can layer the product to create the correct colour coverage you can't go far wrong with picking the wrong one. I also love that it can be used to ombre the bottom of your hair! I've been thinking about doing this for a while so I'm very excited to try this temporarily to get a feel for what it is like! I will write a blog post about is as I will also be doing an in depth review of the Instant Root Concealer product.

After we had found out more about this amazing new Charles Worthington product we were lucky enough to have our hair done by one of his BAFTA hair stylists which was a great experience. I had loose curls which I loved!

Priced at only £9.99 the Instant Root Concealer is the affordable multi-purpose product that doesn't have the same problems as others like it on the market. I can't wait to try it!

What do you think of the new product Charles Worthington is launching?
