Review | Superdrug Vitamin E All Over Body Butter - Swap Shop Mini Series Post 1

Superdrug Vitamin E All Over Body Butter

Superdrug Vitamin E All Over Body Butter

Last year I attended an amazing event in London with Superdrug, a brand I love. They introduced a unique concept called the 'Swap Shop' which has not only been a lot of fun to take part in but has also introduced me to some amazing new products.  The idea behind this is that I gave the Superdrug team a list of my favourite beauty items and they gave me Superdrug brand alternatives to try.  One of those being a gorgeous body butter which is the alternative to my Laura Mercier Body Souffle. This is such a great idea and I've really enjoyed taking part so I will be creating a mini series of posts which will compare each of the products I have tried. Here is a little more detail about the body butter.

The *Vitamin E All Body Butter is stored in a simple round tub that I really like. It's pretty compact and packed full of product so you get a lot for your money and it is easy to tuck away in my drawer and travel with too. I like the simple design and branding as it makes the product look more expensive than it is and it's not fussy.

As for the product itself, this body butter contains natural shea and cocoa butter as well as horse chestnut extract which nourishes my skin well and leaves it super soft and smooth. Despite having a luxurious thick and creamy consistency it also absorbs extremely quickly into my skin and doesn't leave any greasy residue at all. This Superdrug body butter is also enriched with naturally sourced Vitamin E which is an antioxidant that helps shield the skin against environmental damage and premature skin aging by fighting the harmful effects of free radicals.Other ingredients include vitamins A, B, F and H which help care for dry skin.

This is a really lovely skin care product and I have been using it most evenings. It has a really subtle scent which reminds me of Summer but doesn't linger for long and I have really enjoyed using it. In comparison to the Laura Mercier alternative, the scent and texture of the product is different as it isn't as sweet and the formula is thicker but the result of each is equally as good. Both leave my skin feeling soft, healthy and nourished.

The Vitamin E All Over Body Butter is one of many items in the range included a micellar water, wipes, face mask, serum and body oil. I've been really impressed with this product and I would definitely purchase it. It is a really great affordable alternative to other body butters and body moisturisers on the market and nourishes my skin well. In fact this is priced at £2.99 whereas the Laura Mercier Body Souffle I also used is priced at £44.50 which is a huge difference. I can't believe how good this product is for the price.. it's gorgeous.

It doesn't look like this product is available online but if you're interested in buying it take a look in store.

What is your favourite body butter? Have you tried any by Superdrug?

Review | Paul's Boutique Makeup Brushes

Pauls Boutique Makeup Brushes

Pauls Boutique Makeup Brushes

I'm always on the hunt for new makeup brushes to add to my collection so when I recently came across these beautiful ones by Paul's Boutique I couldn't wait to try them. I love that they are the complete opposite to any others in my collection as they have bright vibrant colours and I really think this will make them appeal to younger people who may just be starting out with makeup. It makes a change to have fun makeup brushes with a splash of colour rather than your typical black and this hint of neon on the handle and dip dyed synthetic bristles is Paul Boutique's well known trademark.

Each brush in the collection (five in total) is packaged in matching neon colours which completes the look perfectly and really makes them stand out on the shelf.

I have two brushes from the collection which I will talk about in a little more detail below.

*BLUSHER BRUSH | £6.99 | LINK

Pauls Boutique Makeup Brushes

The first brush I have is the blusher brush which is a really nice size for this purpose and also has a slight angle which makes product placement easier. This brush also works really well when applying bronzer but not so much for contouring as the head of the brush is a little large for this application to be very precise. Product picks up well on the synthetic hairs of this brush and it blends nicely into the skin without causing any irritation due to the bristles being silky soft and the hairs haven't shed at all. The handle is chunky and weighty yet  is comfortable to hold and use. This is my favourite brush of the two featured in this post.

*FOUNDATION BRUSH | £7.99 | LINK

Pauls Boutique Makeup Brushes

The second brush I have is used to apply foundation and is your typical flat paddle shape. This isn't my favourite style of brush to apply foundation, instead a prefer to use a flat kabuki but it's good to mix things up and I have still enjoyed using it. Again, the product picks up well on the synthetic bristles and applies streak-free to the skin. It works well to blend the foundation evenly across the skin and the shape allows to you easily apply the product around the eyes, nose and lips with ease.

If you want to try these makeup brushes they are available from Superdrug and are priced very reasonably.

What did you think of these makeup brushes? What are your favourites?

Review | Superdrug 50th Birthday Products

Superdrug 50th Birthday

Being a beauty blogger I'm a big fan of Superdrug as they sell a wide range of products from beauty to skin care and hair care and I'm pleased to say they are currently celebrating their 50th Birthday!

This means they have re-vamped the packaging for a variety of products to sport their eye catching trademark pink branding and I have a few here that I want to share with you:

*Max Factor Mascara  - I love the polka dot design on this clump defying mascara and I can't wait to give it a try. I haven't actually tried a mascara from Max Factor for years so I can't really remember what they are like if I'm honest...I'm interested to see the results!

*Rimmel 60 Second Nail Polish - You can tell from my blog design I love a bit of pink so I adore this hot pink nail polish by Rimmel. These polishes are really good because the formula isn't too thick or thin and they dry really quickly.

*Fruit Sorbet Face Masks - These face masks sound absolutely divine... fruit sorbet! Yum! They are suitable for all skin types and contain raspberry, cranberry and red grape fruit extracts to help revitalise and help protect your skin.

*Superdrug Intense Volume Lashes - I don't use lashes very often because I'm terrible at applying them. I rarely seem to be able to get them in the right position and as I don't wear them very often I don't really get enough practice to master how to do it! As I've got these new ones to try that will all change, I hope!

*Superdrug Firm Hold Hair Spray - I often style my hair so I'm a regular user of hair spray but haven't tried Superdrug's own version yet. I'm interested to see how it compares to my favourite which is Urban Fudge Iced Raspberry and Vanilla. I love the small packaging of the Superdrug one, though because it is perfect to pop in your hand bag and even contains pro-vitamin B5.

There are many other products displaying the Limited Edition 50th Anniversary packaging so keep an eye out for it in stores and online. Some of your favourite products may have even been given a make-over!

What do you think about the Superdrug 50th Birthday range?

Superdrug Shine Control Papers Review

Superdrug Shine Control Papers

Superdrug Shine Control Papers

Superdrug Shine Control Papers

The weather is causing havoc with my skin at the moment and I've found I've been getting a lot more oil on my nose and chin area than usual.  To help combat this I have invested in some shine control paper from Superdrug.

The blotting paper comes in a little booklet containing 65 sheets and each page is covered in a light powder so not only are these papers oil absorbed but your skin also given a light dusting of translucent powder to help keep oil under control for longer.

To use these paper you simply tear a sheet out from the book (hopefully neater than what I did above oopsi) and gently pat it onto your problem areas.  You will be able to easily see where the oil has been absorbed.

These shine control papers are really great at removing excess oil and leaving a matte finish on my skin but I do find I have to use them several times a day if the oil is particularly bad so isn't going to give you a long lasting fix but it will control the oil for a little while.  They are also very small and slim so are easy to pop in your hand bag and use on the go which is brilliant.

Originally I thought these blotting papers were pretty pricey as they are £2.50 but they work really well, are a great size so you can discreetly keep them in your handbag and as they also contain the powder element too they are offering you more than simply oil absorption.

This product is currently on offer at Superdrug (two for £3.50) so if you're interested in giving them a try, grab yourself a bargain!

Have you tried shine control paper before? What did you think?
